So with Logan Ryan back on the team and the emergence/potential of Turk does this sway Happel away from Iowa? I don’t think Happel’s ever beating Ryan or Turk. Look for Ryan and Turk to man 141 & 149 the next 4 years. Any chance Happel can go 133?

I don't know the future, but if Happel thinks he can beat these guys and he wants to wrestle at Iowa, what would be the hangup? If it's money we might lose him to UNI, otherwise I don't know why he wouldn't think he takes these guys out, and frankly if he doesn't think that way I don't want him.

Furthermore, Sorensen is hopefully a career 149 unless he and Kemerer flip flop at 149/157. Turk and Ryan aren't budging those two, IMO of course..

Ryan was #72 P4P in class of 2014 (D1W), and has only had his redshirt year, which was decent but not spectacular--he's #34 on wrestlestats. Is he a finalist in the making? I doubt it.

Turk was #67 P4P in class of 2015 (D1W), behind other 41-pounders like Kolodzik (#6),Hayes (#11), K Moore (#23), Clayton (#34), and 5 others. I'm hearing hype about him in the room, and how he's going to be great. I hope so. But I don't know how much of that is wishful thinking.

Happel is ranked #4 at 138 HS (Flo), and #25 P4P in class of 2016 (Flo). He's had a good spring and summer and has continued to improve.

If I had to pick one guy from the bunch to become an NCAA champ it would be Happel.

Also keep in mind that somebody will go up to 149 to replace Sorensen when he graduates. If you held a gun to my head I'd say it'll be Happel and Turk at 141-49, not Ryan.

But I'm not married to that opinion, and would love to hear the argument for Ryan. I just think now would be a really good time to sign Happel.

I agree with Tarp. Ryan hasn't done anything to make me think he'd beat Happel head to get head or have better overall results. Turk, however has been impressive. I think that would be a compelling battle. Also a great work out partner

Rankings and past accomplishments say Happel would end up as the best of the 3 more than your opinion. Ryan and Sorensen only have 1 overlap year with Happel anyway. We will need guys to fill both 141 and 149 after that 1 year and I see Turk and Happel as both guys who can be 141 or 149. There is a lot of need for him.

Ryan is several years older than Happel and doesn't have his pedigree. Turk doesn't have Happel's pedigree, either. Remember that Turk hasn't even been to an official Iowa wrestling practice at this point let alone taken the mat and actually done anything on the mat. Be wary of "room hype." After all the Cooper talk last year, I know I am.
