Sam Cary of Iowa Soccer says “eat your heart out, Sarah Fuller” UPDATE: First ever Hawkeye taken in NWSL Draft

Well, Iowa has a starting field goal kicking position available next fall. I'm not sure how that will mix with soccer season though.

I mean.... I don't wanna be that guy.... That's super impressive, would probably outkick 99% of posters/ people attempting that including myself whom she'd kick the shit out of me (ment literal kicking. But also probably physically)... .

But enough of this all woman can be college football kickers.... It took her 2 seconds to go from starting the kick to kicking ( avg time is 1.25, so blocked probably 90% of the time) and barely made it, plus no pads or anything...

Again incredibly impressive on Her end, not bashing u or anything, more the quotes tweet of saying "hey Iowa fball. She's available"

Good for her. I wonder how many college kickers could make a women's college soccer team. And by kicker I mean offensive linemen.

She cleared 40 by a few yards, which is way better than I could get close to.

But...
No pass rush
No pressure
No pads/helmet as someone else already said
40 yards should be within the practice range of almost any high school’s kicker.

I had three different teammates in high school that converted from over 45 in HS games. One of whom walked on at Iowa and, aside from getting a few warmup kicks before a few games, never got a sniff of kicking when it counted.

Kicking for a Ferentz team is the real deal. It isn’t a part time job that someone can just jump into, you better be all state caliber in high school as a kicker to make it with Ferentz. Kudos on the video though.

Good takes. I could hit rugby penalty kicks from 50, but to be a B1G kicker (especially at Iowa) is a high level of elite. For example, I came to Iowa thinking I might try walking on to a kicking spot while playing rugby. There was just this other Freshman on scholarship though, named Nate Kaeding, and Kyle Schlicher behind him.

Did you play rugby for Iowa?

Yep. For about a year and a half. Loved playing, didn’t want to deal with the nagging injuries and hours of weekend travel when I had a long-time serious GF. Then she got pregnant and that sealed my decision.
Cool. So what years/semester did you play at Iowa? We probably know similar people.

I started playing scrimmages, exhibitions and against men’s teams in 1999 while a JUCO, after meeting a tobacco chewing forward named Joe and other guys on the team at the little rugby section in Scheels. Transferred to Iowa and played the first games of 2000 and got injured just prior to 2000 Big Ten schedule.

Before that I was a starter my junior and senior year at a powerhouse (especially in sevens) high school in Michigan.

Nice gams.

I have family in Louisville. I've made it to a Louisville City game and hopefully I can make it to a Racing Louisville game this summer.
