San Francisco School Board gives OK for Condoms to Middle Schoolers

I disagree with this. I am a realist and I realize what happens in high school as kids get older, but middle school? Way too young to give them access to this type of thing and allow them to ultimately try and make this decision.

Gotta disagree with ya on this. Twenty years ago when I was in middle school kids were having sex at that age. The easier the access the better imo.

The first time I ever heard of a "Rainbow Party" it was as a result of a 7th grade "slumber party" and a couple of boys showed up.........THat was 10 years ago.........

You can see the fruits of shitty parenting earlier and earlier.

Good job San Fransico.

San Fran doesn't have the corner on that market, 22. However, they are honest enough top look at the issue realistically. I would give them credit for that. Again..the kids aren't being forced to take condoms home but many of them would play hell walking into the local drug store/Target/Walgreen's and picking out a 6 pack and being able to buy them.
I was lucky....my dad owned a drug store. ;)
In high school/college, I used to pick them up for friends.....and leave the $$ on the CR for pops to ring up the next day. If I ever needed any....they were "comped."

Every gas station bathroom has a machine that dispenses condoms for $1. Or is that only a thing in Florida?

Don't disagree.

But, I think the policy rollout should include a statement to the parents saying that this is necessary because you are not engaged in your children's lives and choices.

THat is nothing new, 22. But a school probably shouldn't get too involved in how a family "upbrings" a kid ("big government" interference), although schools do have the burden of working with the product. And if it eliminates/reduces a teen/unwed mother pregnancy, birth/abortion it's probably a good thing.

Personally I would like to see plenty more public ridicule of shitty parenting.

Single moms and deadbeat dads should be listed by name in public buildings for all I care.

But, I'm a little radical when it comes to idiots unleashing their children on the rest of us.

I'm pretty sure they have access to their thing no matter if they have the wrapping. For what it's worth, the Catholic school I went to taught us how to put on condoms in 4th grade. The public school waited until 7th grade. That could spark several reactions. But I would think it wise to teach the lesson before they need it, not after.

So you believed the very friendly priest when he told you that was standard individualized instruction?
