Kansas-UConn....that game is gonna be very interesting to watch. As much as I don't want UConn to go on another ridiculous, for-no-explainable-reason, show-up-in-the tournament run to the championship, I would be elated if they beat Kansas. In fact they need to beat Kansas because I don't think anyone else will afterwards. This is their most vulnerable.
UNC-Providence....Entertaining game against USC tonight, but unless North Carolina shoots like they did against Iowa a few years ago, and/or Providence plays flawlessly and hits Arkansas-Little Rock range three-pointers, then the Tar Heels should win.
Kentucky-Indiana....well it's put up or shut up for Crean and the Hoosiers. Will Yogi get to do his stupid arrow-shooting dance a bunch in a win for both the Big Ten and the NCAA or will Kentucky put them back in their place? Kentucky is playing well at the right time, though they are (obviously) much more beatable than last year's team looked at this point.
Wichita State-Miami....I'm very tempted to take the Shockers. Everyone was saying, "ah don't worry, they'll shake off losing to Northern Iowa and show up in the tournament" and usually when you hear stuff like that, it means a 1st round exit. But WSU had put together two solid NCAA tourney games now and Miami got pushed by Buffalo.
Virginia-Butler....Bulldogs played inspired basketball, but we'll see if they can play above and beyond against another streaking team in Virginia. Yes, the Cavaliers lost a tough game to UNC, but both those teams are peaking at the right time.
Duke-Yale....I've never taken the time to appreciate all the recent upsets and tournament defeats Duke has suffered in the years between their championship runs since the turn of the century and I regret that a little. While this would certainly rank as one of my favorite upsets of all-time, I just think that we just won't be lucky enough to see Yale take down Duke as well. And to think, I had Baylor in the Sweet 16......*smh*
Iowa State-Little Rock....Depending on which kind of defensive effort shows up for the Cyclones, it could be quite a battle for our friends from Ames. I'm sure they're rejoicing on the outside at avoiding Purdue and getting a 12-seed, but seeing what A-LR is capable of when they're on probably has them thinking a bit differently on the inside. Not to mention when a team is making the kind of shots that A-LR made against Purdue, that doesn't just disappear. The good teams make it disappear. So I guess we're gonna find out what kind of team Iowa State really is..................
Utah-Gonzaga....Maybe I'm selling the Pac-12 too short, but I had the winner of Seton Hall-Gonzaga going past Utah in every one of my brackets. It's not that Utah is a bad team, I just don't think they're playing as well down the stretch as both Gonzaga and Seton Hall (was). As much as I didn't like seeing Gonzaga beat us last year and enjoyed watching them struggle this year, I'll begrudgingly expect them to win on Saturday.
How I'd rank Saturday's matchups:
Kansas vs UConn
Kentucky vs Indiana (probably interchangeable)
Wichita State vs Miami
UNC vs Providence
Virginia vs Butler
Iowa State vs Arkansas-Little Rock
Duke vs Yale
Utah vs Gonzaga
