Eesh, what a weak home slate. I’ll still go, but
Is there no Iowa City duals this year? I thought I had read they were still going to have them, but maybe I missed it. Thanks
I think it could serve as a benchmark for some of the people that talk about burnout before March because of such brutal schedules in years past. Might also help a few individual records for seeding.
Outside of the Rutgers match which may have Lee/Suriano pt 2, is there any home match at Iowa this year that has a must see match up?

What an embarrassment by the Big Ten. Certain rivalries need to be protected. We should have PSU and tOSU on our schedule every year.
Road schedule is weak as well (making the entire schedule the weakest I can recall). Notables missing from the schedule: Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State.
I like the triangular at Kent State as a replacement for the IC Duals from a competitive stand point.

I think Princeton and Lehigh have some solid guys for sure. Kolodzik-Lugo, Borucki-Warner, Warner can get some payback. Parker-DeSanto, Kutler-Kemerer in the Lehigh dual.

And people wonder why the sport is (supposedly) losing fans. How about in College Football no OSU-Michigan, Alabama-Auburn, Texas-Oklahoma, or USC-UCLA? Or no Duke-Carolina in college basketball? I mean seriously?! I wouldn't complain as much about our home schedule so long as we at least wrestled PSU and OSU even if on the road. My God the 2 biggest names in college wrestling (well maybe throw Okie St. in too) in Iowa and PSU are in the same conference and don't wrestle. That is simply absurd.
Yeah, Usually teams in the big like to have easier matches with out of conference teams because the schedule is so tough. But the Hawks are one of the premier teams and they are missing all the other tough teams. Lehigh is a good dual for both teams, but at least get ASU or Fresno State on the schedule if there is no PSU, tOSU, or Mich. At least I should be able to see them against the Illini in January. It will be nice to see Spencer in person again and up close. I saw him at the Bigs let year, but I was pretty far away.
Sad schedule at home, when Rutgers, RUTGERS!!! is the most exciting dual. No offense of course to our sisters from Ames

I can never make it to all of the meets anyway because of youth tournaments but have always purchased four season tickets. Usually attend about 1/2 to 2/3's of the meets and give away my tickets for the rest. Will probably pass this year and just buy tickets at the door for the couple of meets I plan to attend.

That's the spirit. Although the competition won't be top tier, this will be the most exciting Iowa lineup in about 8 years -- possibly more -- and well worth the ticket, IMO. Perfect opportunity to show up in droves and cheer on a star-studded Iowa lineup. They'll be scoring in bunches, which is always f*** to watch. Great chance for Hawk fans to make a statement of our own. Plus, there will be at least one, and possibly two, massive HWC parties before ISU and maybe another meet. That alone will be more than enough reason to make your way to Iowa City (or show up if you're already there).
You would think people could put their heads together and figure out a way to have Iowa, PSU, tOSU and Mich wrestle each other every year. This isn't rocket science or curing Cancer.

The Kent St. duals are way better than romping over Cornell and Iowa Central. Princeton and Purdue have made good improvements the past couple years. The hawk-clones match will have some drama from Dresser at the very least and better match ups with some new young guys and Miklus finishing there. Lehigh has a very solid program with a talent throughout the lineup. The rodents are hoping to be better than the past couple years and a home meet for them. Illinois has made some gains as well and will be fired up for us to go to their place (especially after Stoll dropped Deuce last year to win it). Northwestern has gotten a bit better. At Nebby is always a good atmosphere vs a good team. Maryland, no comment. Indiana has a new coach, maybe some improvement there. Bono will be spazzing out all year getting Wisky pumped for us to come in there, they have some improved talent. Grudge match with a talent loaded OSU to end the year.

Really? If they scheduled a variety of junior college JV teams (like ISU for instance), I wouldn't change my purchasing one iota. It's the Hawks. The other team matters much less.

I will be. I always enjoy taking casual fans to good meets to show them the best of what the sport has to offer. My nephew is a Hawkey fan, and getting more into wrestling so I really wanted to take him this year.
Instead I think I’ll take him to a football game and a Saturday morning practice for much better wrestling action.

I’d rather watch Lee vs Gilman, Desanto vs Jrent, Murin vs Turk, Lugo vs Young, Bull vs Kem (and/or Nelson), Wilke vs Bowman, Stoll vs Cass
Those matchups are better than any dual this year.
I can't wait. We get to watch our guys compete and definitely have some intriguing individual matchups. Home schedule next year will be that much better.
We'll be keeping up the tradition of a Thompson having attended every High School or older wrestling competition in Carver-Hawkeye Arena since the doors opened, so we'll be there.
I'd like to propose a couple goals for the year, although they are bit tongue-in cheek because Lehigh, Princeton and a couple others coming to town have some pretty tough individuals;
1. Go through the 2018-19 home season without giving up an opposing team point.
2. Win every home meet by 40 points or more
Those ought to get even the most Black and Gold homies something to be happy about. Maybe some of you can come up with a few more.
Now, realistically, it's the weakest home schedule I've ever seen the Hawkeyes have, and probably the weakest overall since the '60s, But we get to see some blow-outs, and a few big wins over solid individuals, and a Hawkeye wrestling meet, even the worst ones, still tops a day at work, or a few other things I can think of. Let's have fun with this, because it is what it is. GO HAWKS!
