So my kid has his first school fundraiser. He has an overpriced catalog of items to sell to friends and family. Anybody have any idea of what the school's share is on these types of fundraisers? Are schools typically open to you just donating money instead of doing the sales?

Ask the school what is the project for the fundraiser. Then
you can donate cash to that particular project. Most schools
are trying to fund things that are not in the school budget.

A lot of school fundraisers are now for helping teachers pay for supplies in the classroom that they would otherwise have to payfor out of pocket especially art class. Teachers only get a very small amount to buy supplies.

I've been in education 20 years and haven't see this. Maybe a book fair at conferences where the library uses it to buy more books but that is about it.

I am in education and have done 100's of fundraisers for stuff I am involved with or stuff my kids are involved with. At our school they are non- mandatory even though our coaches and staff may push the kids to sell stuff.

I would ask where the profits go. If it is to a fundraising account for the school then it is probably to pay for speakers, field trips, or like a program at school like a play for the kids to watch.

Yes they will always take money.

What district are you talking about?
