Yea, we got thrashed. We had our worst game against a team that was on fire. And we watched the best player in college football have the best night in Rose Bowl history. But I also saw a great team on a bad bad night that did not quit or pout. And I am so proud of that.

I expected very little from this team and thought our staff had bit the dust. Well I'm an old man and I've NEVER had more fun watching any Iowa team. And I can't wait for next season.

Thank you Kirk, Greg, Phil, Chris and all the other staff members. THANK YOU PLAYERS!! All of you. You did the unthinkable. I will salute you until the day I take my last breath.

I am one proud Iowa Hawkeye. Even tonight.

Good post. I agree. while tonight was very frustrating, I think this game will prove to be a learning experience for Iowa and will drive this team that has a lot of people returning to get back to the rose bowl and win it next year.

This has been a great season. I am looking forward to next season.

There is no reason to allow this game to taint this season. It was a great year.

The way Iowa lost sucks...but, it will heal over in time. Time to move on.

Exactly. Anybody that thinks this game won't motivate these kids didn't watch the team I watched this season. We're in for another special year next season.

How does the saying go?: It ain't how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get up. (I think a kid named CJ Beathard knows a little something about this, as does his coach Mr. Ferentz.)

Meister,

Well said, they went well above and beyond. Tough for us to lose the last two like we did.

Go Hawks, thanks for the memories.

Before the Nebraska game, I was afraid they might lose that one, the BCG, and the bowl game. 11-3 would have been kind of hard to put in a positive light. I have no issues with 12-2. This was a great season.

Damn straight, it was arguably the BEST season in Iowa Football history.

I hate to rain on the parade, but, 2009 was better........they closed the deal by winning the Orange Bowl. However, I hope this season will be a springboard to better seasons to come. They fought hard this season though and should be proud of what they accomplished........

I was happy at 8 wins.

I said "arguably" didn't I? DIDN'T I??!!!!!!! :D And, for me it was the most fun because these guys took it to 12-0 when not one person suspected it. And because it's the first time we were in the conversation for a National Championship. That's why I said it was "arguably" the best season in Iowa history. (I have many umbrellas.)

I'm happy they went out and the second and gave it some good effort. It was cool the fans were in it too despite the fact that Iowa was getting thumped. Getting points on the board was a great moral victory.

Nothing I like or respect more than a moral victory.

I might be looking at it simplistically, but it appeared to me that the main difference between the two teams was foot speed.

yes, they over achieved and I love them, but they got their azz whooped and with MSU getting azz whooped, it looks like the 12-0 was mostly a product of soft schedule.

We lost our two biggest games of the season. We hit the glass ceiling twice and bounced off each time. This season was a chance to break through that proverbial glass ceiling nationally. Despite winning 12 games (against admittedly weak competition), we didn't do it. We're still Iowa, when we could have been *IOWA*.

Agree with Bagdropper........not sure why this happened. Other than something about the glitz
of California and the constant McCaffery build-up. I certainly did not see the Hawkeyes coming out and laying an Egg, in the first half WOW

I'm glad I took your advice op and just quit making long posts and just went and had fun. I went to the club, watched, had a good time. knew they would lose but did not think it would be that bad. had a great time. we toasted the season. they had a good season.
