As Mrs. V (no pics) and I were driving home last night, she asked, "How far do you think other people travel to go to Iowa Wrestling duals?"

We picked up our daughter's (no pics) dirty laundry, grabbed some Cappy's pizzas, and made it home in about 2:50.

I drive back home. So at an 8pm dual I don't get home until maybe 3:30am I drive a little slower because of the night and be cautious of deer. I fear truck drivers the most though. There have been too many instances of semi's swerving into me while I'm passing them at night when I'm coming home from concerts or a dual.

Usually 45-50 minutes, but we've had nights that were an hour and a half due to ice and/or snow. That doesn't include time getting out of the parking lot.

Coming from Marion. Usually take hwy 1 through Solon cause I hate 380. About 45min door to finkbine parking lot.

Hour and a half for me and had always driven home but in the last couple of years I’ve started staying on weekend duals and going out for steak dinner and drinks which makes the trip much nicer! Got a vrbo for the Okie State dual with five OLD high school buddies so it could be a LONG weekend!!

75 min one way for us.

Full transparency, we gave up season tix this year. It may just be part of the “aging process” but the late drives, cold walks to the arena and stale product just got be too much. Plus with all the streaming services, we barely miss a match.

Last year, we decided to get a room at the Union and spend time in Iowa City. It was cold, thinking it was the MN meet…anyway, we had some difficulty getting up the slippery ramp and finding a space in the parking garage and were half-afraid to go back out and risk a parking mishap. So, we stayed in the room and watched on BTN. It was at this time, I decided I’d had enough.

Admittedly, I miss the live atmosphere and neighboring fans but I don’t mind watching from my easy chair. I still enjoy an Easy Eddie minus the lines😏…

We will still get to CHA for a few meets. Go Hawks!

I keep renewing but only go to a couple of meets a year. My kids will use my tickets for a couple of duals a year also but yes it’s getting harder to convince myself to go out in the cold on a weekday and home at midnight when I can sit home and watch many of them. And no matter who’s to blame when we average less than one takedown per match in a lot of matches I’m even less motivated. I’ve had season tickets for over twenty years and will be 62 soon so I’m guessing that plays a part in all of it!

1:50 from home to lot 43. Those 8pm BTN duals can make for a late night, especially if it's slow getting out of the lot. It's been better this year.

Thanks for the replies. If we didn't have old dogs at home, we'd probably spend more night in IC. We get tickets through my aunt (no pics) and she has access to a parking pass in lot 46, which is a game changer. We can get out pretty quick.

I would get season tickets but the trip from Nashville is a bit much. The wife and I get up there for one quality dual a year thanks to a good friend helping me out with great seats.

Brother: I was raised in Sioux City…many many many years ago. Graduated from West High.

Nice West High Wolverines. I been there to watch tennis matches my friend that I play club table tennis with was the East High/Sgt. Bluff girls tennis coach. Sioux City ain't too bad I end up going to Omaha a lot for shopping or concerts. Every building downtown is being renovated (literally every building that needs it) so it's looking nice. I think it's because the Hard Rock casino is pumping money back into the city.
