I just saw elsewhere that season tickets are going to be $135 this year. If that includes women's meets, I'm fine with that, but if not, I don't think the product we're seeing justifies the price increase. I'll pay what I have to, and I understand Bidenflation and all that, but what did we see last year that justifies that, and what does this coming year look like, especially with 40% of the starters rumored to be in the gambling scandal that will undoubtedly cost them some mat time? I love my Hawkeyes, but for a poor man on a fixed income a 50% price increase is hard to take, especially when other teams are around $50 or less (I'll admit, I don't know the price of many teams). If the women are included my rant is withdrawn, but if not, that's a lot. OK, I'm done with the rant for now.

They were $90 or 95 last year. Let's split hairs over a couple percent if they were 95. If they were $100 (which I'm almost positive they weren't) that's still a 35% increase. Wouldn't you love to get a 35% raise?

I know $135 is cheap compared to football or pro sports, or concerts, but I don't go to (many of) those things anymore. I guess we have to pay for those NIL deals (being facetious here), or the price increases for the new facility.

You made me look up my receipt. $105 per ticket

OK, I'll take your word. I knew it wasn't $100 even. My memory gets worse every day.
I guess I'm worried that I still haven't paid our emergency account back everything it cost to go see Spencer (not) win his 4th title. I should have stayed home and watched on four TVs like I planned to until late February. Then Women's tickets will cost more on top of that. This is a real strain on my budget. I guess I'll have to come out of retirement and rejoin the workforce. Shouldn't have any trouble finding a job, since nobody wants to work these days.
Then I'll probably lose my seats in the reseat like one of the last times and get pushed further away from the action.
Maybe I should also point out that I'm buying 11 of them, maybe a $330 raise would be a bit more significant, and probably that many Women's as well.

I'm just in a poor mood today, I guess.

First I'll say that $30 per ticket increase is nothing to sneeze at. That is a significant increase.

That said it's still a bargain at just under $17 per home dual (based on 8 home duals).

But between rising costs, outrageous concession costs and the impact of three years of rampant inflation I can see why some will have sticker shock at this price increase.

It's no longer a cheap date to take the family to CHA for wrestling and Carver cones, especially coming from DSM... but I'll be there!

Hey guys thanks for raising and giving us all this money for us to build a new wrestling room; here’s our new jacked up ticket prices to show our appreciation……..and oh we forgot to mention we’ll probably only wrestle our full starting lineup in maybe one meet for you guys this year……..lol

Do you want them to wrestle every meet or do you want them to be healthy come March? I want TNT to do what’s best for the lineup at NCAAs regardless of ticket prices, etc…

How many home events were there last year and how many are there this year?

It’s based on the number of events so without that info it is difficult to make a logical comparison.

I doubt there are more home meets than last year (I doubt the schedule is even finalized yet). In the 40+ years I've been a season-ticket holder there haven't been many (if any) years with more meets than last year.

I don't know that the schedule has been released yet has it? I think 8 would be the high end for home duals; Big10 is split 4H, 4A and then 4 OOC home duals. We had 8 duals last season and I highly doubt we're going to have 9 this year, heck without ISU and Okie we might be down to 7.

The increase will likely have nothing to do with the number of home duals, it's just an old fashioned price increase.

You have the best screen name in history. Every time I read it I smile and chuckle. For some reason I never see the "L" in your screen name.

I’ll be buying mine and supporting Hawkeye Wrestling. Maybe it helps fund another Carver Cone vending spot?
When do they go on sale?
I received an email yesterday

I have had 6 seats for years and am going down to 2 this year

great seats down over tunnel rows 18 an 17
keeping the two in 17…. I guess if anybody wants to buy the ones in 18 I could order them

I think it was Nebraska last year or the year before that was giving away free tickets to high school teams. I was checking if they were going to wrestle anybody good so I could hit a couple duals in Lincoln.

I’ll buy 2 and donate them throughout the year. I’m likely only going to one event and am hoping for seats next to the floor, but am perfectly good with buying and donating these two to a worthy soul(s) each event.

Tell me you aren’t this dumb. Please. Of course it would have something to do with it. If there’s another home meet, of course the price of the season ticket goes up. It’s called logic.

That said, I only asked a question. Maybe they did Jack them way up. We don’t know yet.

I will pretty much guarantee there won't be nine home meets. You're delusional if you think that is why they're going up.

I tried giving away the ones we didn’t use…. listed in here ….. problem was always last minute before we knew they’d be empty

I purchased mine yesterday, Season tickets went up to $135 a piece. 9 home meets would be nice. Big ten duals have been announced., we have Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin at home.

Pretty hilarious that after all the bitching and whoa is me poor guy stuff you casually throw in that you are buying 11 of them. God forbid you should have to survive on 9 or 10🤣

$17 is still a steal

$14-17 is something to sneeze at and it's still a cheap date. Buck up, cheapskate

GFY...Never tell another man how he should spend his hard earned money.

The number of meets from year to year has changed in the past. That’s not delusional. Maybe not this year.

People get oddly upset when you suggest there might be a reason. Are you guys that devoted to having something to complain about?

All of them are spoken for. In past years I bought up to four extra to take people who hadn't been before or seldom got to go, or out-of-staters visiting, but now all but one have someone using them every meet, and the one is taken by my wife half the meets or so.

Yes, the number of meets changes often, but the number of home dual DATES hasn't been over 8 in thirty years or more. We have had more than 8 home meets when we had the now defunct Hawkeye Duals (is that what they called it?) or hosted the National Duals, but never over 8 regular duals since the '80s, and with all the rules limiting competition dates the NCAA imposes now, it is highly doubtful we'll have 9 this year. Not impossible, just doubtful.
How hard are you really working if a $3 increase is such a huge deal? Nobody is forcing you to go
It is tradition with us. We have been to every wrestling event H.S. age or above in CHA. You call it $3, I see it as $330, which is a big amount of money on my budget in this economy.

Just wait till Gable says he's coming. They'll sell out.
Oh, they'll sell out, whether Gale comes or not. That's part of the problem, supply and demand you know. That's why they are raising it so much. They know they can.
First, the NCAA tries cutting out the poor man, and now Iowa is doing it.
I've seen a few posts across some different threads mention a "reseat". What is going on with that?
The tunnel to the new facility took out some seats, so they'll have to let the people with priority points from big donations bump people to less desirable seats to keep the rich people happy. I've "donated" plenty with two sons going there for a total of nine years. 40 years worth of buying 4 to 11 season tickets doesn't get you squat for points, but plopping down thousands of dollars does.

I guess my mood isn't any better today.

I forgot about that new tunnel….. one thing I always enjoyed about my seats was watching what was going on with the coaches and athletes behind the scenes

I suppose the hawks will enter from new tunnel? Opponents the old one?
