Recently expanded from Jefferson to their second site in Iowa City. Has anyone heard how their numbers are doing in Iowa City? I assume it'd be very popular in eastern Iowa. TIA

Sebolt wrestling has developed some remarkable high school wrestlers in the past (1-2) years. How so? Has Sebolt Academy’s success simply been hard work, tenacity and dedication? I do recall TJ Sebolt had a very successful high school wrestling career at Centerville (Iowa) High School. Granting southern Iowa is not the citadel of Iowa high school wrestling. What happened to TJ Sebolt’s career at Iowa State University? Was he a tenacious, dedicated, hard-worker while competing at Iowa State University?

Does Sebolt Wrestling Academy have significant financial support/an underwriter? It appears Sebolt’s wrestling center of operations is located in Jefferson Iowa. Is that a large population catchment area, attracting a significant number of high school wrestlers enrolling in Sebolt’s program? Or is Sebolt wrestling simply attracting high quality interscholastic athletes? The pick-of-the-litter; the cream of the crop.

Just gazing around. With arrival NIL contracts and intercollegiate collectives, the solar system of intercollegiate athletics is transforming.

Many of these kids that are seeing success under Sebolt have been with the club a long time. For example, Ryder Block has been with SWA since he was at least 8 (looked it up;2014 Tulsa Nationals). Schriever was one of his first big name to come through the pipeline. Eric Faught as well. After this years Fargo results, I imagine he will receive a large influx of kids.

I’m no expert on him but I don’t believe Sebolt cared for academics much and college wasn’t his thing

I love seeing guys like this making a living doing something they love….. good for him

He was also completely burnt out on wrestling. His dad was famously overbearing on his wrestling career from a young age. I have always been surprised he went into coaching but he’s done well for himself.

wasn't he home schooled as well? maybe the transition did fare to well with college academics. I think he also battled some injuries as well.

When TJ could separate himself from his father, Scott, he was a decent kid. There were also some other wrestlers on our Cville team that were a very bad influence him.

TJ was home schooled or at least allegedly doing home school. The last time I remember actually seeing him in a class room we were in 3rd grade.

It's not that he didn't care for academics, it's that Scott didn't care for academics. TJ was not prepared for the next level and it was painfully obvious to us back in HS.

But I am so damn happy he was able to shake his overzealous insufferable ass of father and create his own path. I've bumped into him a few times over the years (we did not part on good terms) and he has matured and grown substantially. I'm proud of him for being a good influence on the younger generations. I hope he keeps up the good work!

I heard crazy stories from a few that went and trained with TJ when he was in high school. Apparently the tension was pretty insane and based on what I have heard, I have to assume a situation not too dissimilar from Pat McCaffrey and his dad.
