Hey buddy...per our prior conversations I think you grew up in the Gladbrook-Reinbeck school district or your dad taught/coached there. They won Class A state football today. Thought you might like to know...maybe your dad is still giving gifts my friend.

Thanks dude!!!!

I went to school there k-1 & 4-10

Today would have been my dads 70th birthday. Even though he finished his teaching career in Clear Lake, Reinbeck was his first teaching and coaching job. He would have been really proud of the G-R win today.

And being a U of I alum, he would have been so happy with the season this year. I'm really missing our football season discussions this fall.

Wow dude. I feel for ya buddy but I hope he is looking down with pride. I hope he had a pretty freaking happy birthday. As I have told you, the head coach has been a friend for over 30 years and in light of everything going on with the school district, it is an amazing accomplishment.

Kinda OT, but how old are you?

46, turn 47 next month.

We still know a ton of people in. Reinbeck and I still stop thru there from time to time.

Gotcha. I know some of the staff and they have to be about that age although IDK for sure if they grew up there. If you are ever back in GR or CL holler at me...I'd like to buy you a drink sometime. No homo. NTTAWWT

Sounds like G-R is getting dissolved after this year. Apparently the Gladbrook people were pissed about closing their elementary school. Gladbrook would likely go with GMG Garwin and Reinbeck would either stand alone or go with Grundy Center.

I'm in CL right now. Working on a film project. I'm back on the road tomorrow, but will be around sunday and possibly monday. I fly back to Ft Lauderdale on Wednesday, but filming again on tuesday.

My dad coached with Larry Messerly, who retired from Reinbeck around 2005. I also had Dale Wambold, Neil Lungren, Roxanne Hild, Pattie Bailey and some other teachers. Still know and am in contact with half the town. That place never changes. lol

It's sad to see the state of the music department since my dad left there in 1985. When we left we had nearly 80 kids in band. I think they have less than 20 now. I was in the band room this summer, as my dad was able to go to the reunion for the class of 75(my dad's all time favorite class of students)......it was sad to see what the band room had become.
My daughter had a great time locating my dad and myself in the photos in the trophy case outside the gymnasium.

Yeah, it's getting pretty ugly. And what I've been told is that Reinbeck would definitely go with Grundy Center.

The vote to terminate the school district is no given to pass but the district is in trouble no matter what. They had 55 more students open enroll out of GR then they had the previous year.

That is a lot of cash the district lost and I am not sure they can survive it long term.
