SEC

The SEC was set up to crush it in last year’s tournament and absolutely flopped. They’re making up for it this year, so far.

Did you watch Tennessee auburn and Arkansas. What’s worse is they complain about every call against them.
Arkansas would have likely lost to Kansas if bill self is there to complain to officials.
I've also noticed a lot of that. A player contests a jump shot and gets called for a foul. Protests. Replay shows him clearly hitting the shooter on the arm. I would hate to play pick-up call your own with these guys.

Welcome to 90% of basketball players today. Everyone complains, not just SEC players. I hate it too. Iowa fans love to complain about mugging when it's actually just good defense. "Get 'em off!!!"

You’re talking about the conference the B12 dominated in the B12/SEC challenge this season?

Arkansas only beat Kansas because Bill Self wasn’t coaching due to a health issue.
I will have to differ. The B12/ ACC challenge was a while ago. Teams develop.

Northwestern and Penn State nearly pulled upsets. Princeton shellacked two much Higher rated teams. Purdue‘s upset was highly anticipated. I think parity in college ball is the rule. Player mobility has equaled out the talent.

Purdue shit the bed, but aside from them only Indiana was seeded to make the top 16. Can’t be overrated when you’re already expected to be awful.

The overrating of B1G was giving Purdue a #1 seed by the NCAA selection committee. Anyone that put them into their Sweet16 or better on NCAA brackets also overrated them.

I confess I had Purdue to the Sweet16 just because it seemed too risky for my brackets not to have them win at least a couple game, but they clearly were not built for NCAA tourney success.

The fact that Purdue dominated the B1G regular conference championship points to the B1G being collection of so-so teams. The coaches/administrators within the B1G have not adjusted to the current state of college B-ball---not enough athletes, too big man focused, defense not up to ncaa tourney levels, and not sleezey enough to compete in NIL/under the table money in roster building.

I suspect Iowa‘s historical tournament record is somewhere around.500. Unfortunately, many of those losses have come in the last 8 years or so. We’re definitely due, as long as we keep making the tournament. I realize that’s little solace.

Making the tournament AND getting a 5 seed or better is KEY.

Which is why 21' and 22' were so disappointing. Had the seeds to win 2 games.

Those are also the reason that fans are restless. Down years are acceptable, if you "make hay" on the good years.

Athletic guards and AVERAGE defense PLEASE!

I don't think it's as simple as saying they're due. Iowa has had NBA quality players at the forward positions the last several years and it hasn't mattered. Deficits at the guard position and a complete lack of defensive ability have been Fran's calling card since arriving at Iowa. Until he figures this out, the odds of a tournament run are pretty remote.

It's a year that really shows parity in college. And the repeating of the big 12 is the best conference in the league was just as i repeatedly said, over rated. If the big gets 2,teams in the sweet 16 that's not shabby. If they get 2 in the elite 8 it's pretty amazing with Purdue going out.

This - his style is good enough to make tournament most years but forget about a deep run unless those 2 things are addressed
