Secret Pentagon Report Reveals US "Created" ISIS As A "Tool" To Overthrow Syria's President Assad

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/24/2015
From the first sudden, and quite dramatic, appearance of the fanatical Islamic group known as ISIS which was largely unheard of until a year ago, on the world's stage and which promptly replaced the worn out and tired al Qaeda as the world's terrorist bogeyman, we suggested that the "straight to beheading YouTube clip" purpose behind the Saudi Arabia-funded Islamic State was a simple one: use the Jihadists as the vehicle of choice to achieve a political goal: depose of Syria's president Assad, who for years has stood in the way of a critical Qatari natural gas pipeline, one which could dethrone Russia as Europe's dominant - and belligerent - source of energy, reaching an interim climax with the unsuccessful Mediterranean Sea military build up of 2013, which nearly resulted in quasi-world war.

The narrative and the plotline were so transparent, even Russia saw right through them. Recall from September of last year:

If the West bombs Islamic State militants in Syria without consulting Damascus, LiveLeak reports that the anti-ISIS alliance may use the occasion to launch airstrikes against President Bashar Assad’s forces, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Clearly comprehending that Obama's new strategy against ISIS in Syria is all about pushing the Qatar pipeline through (as was the impetus behind the 2013 intervention push), Russia is pushing back noting that the it is using ISIS as a pretext for bombing Syrian government forces and warning that "such a development would lead to a huge escalation of conflict in the Middle East and North Africa."

But it's one thing to speculate; it's something entirely different to have hard proof.

And while speculation was rife that just like the CIA-funded al Qaeda had been used as a facade by the US to achieve its own geopolitical and national interests over the past two decades, so ISIS was nothing more than al Qaeda 2.0, there was no actual evidence of just this.

That may all have changed now when a declassified secret US government document obtained by the public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, shows that Western governments deliberately allied with al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups to topple Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.

According to investigative reporter Nafeez Ahmed in Medium, the "leaked document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf states and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Anyone who didn't see ISIS as Al Queada 2.0, is just being naive. It's funny how quickly they organized and became such a threat so quickly. In Libya also, there were findings that many of the 'Rebels' were in fact Al Queada militants.

I wonder what the next "name/version" will be. It's always unique. Taliban, Al Qaeda, Radical Islamists, ISIS, Hezbollah, etc.

I play a game on my smartphone called "8-Ball Pool." It's a global network pool game. You choose your home country flag in your profile and create a username and so forth. People from the entire world play. I learned a lot of country's flags from playing that! Oddly enough, about 60% of the players on there are Arab/Muslim and all from these horrific countries we are supposed to fear. Apparently a lot of them have free time to play a Google Pool game when they aren't plotting to kill Americans. They're all pretty good at the game, too. Mohammed is okay with playing a pool game on a smartphone... whew!

I guess most Americans see this and it just rolls-off their attention span. It's been made clear that their contempt and fear toward a foreigner is no longer justified in the capacity they thought. Turns out, their own shadow government was involved as always. They never seem to show the same disdain for the real culprit as they do for the manufactured culprit.

Hence the JV team comment from Obama. Who knew that at the time he was being honest.

The most corrupt administration EVER and it ain't even close

The "corruption" that is being exposed here is not the administration. It's the structure of actual control of this country's polices. These administrations are fronts.

(Off on a tangent warning) I still wonder why Russia has not sent troops to help the Syrian regime. They have the history with them and a major naval base there. Will any of the new info coming out (assuming it is for real) help explain this?

as someone in institutional asset management I can tell you that zero hedge is completely full of crap. I think he hears rumors at the bar and blogs about them.

And, why should anyone (except those who benefit from institutional asset management) take your opinion as anything other than self-serving and basically completely full of crap yourself?

the guy posts stuff that's frequently proven factually incorrect. a lot of this stuff falls under the scope of my line of work.

it sounds like you have major issues as well, so it would probably be beneficial to everyone if you continue taking his stuff seriously. and then shoot yourself in the face.

Yeah, one of my issues is I don't take your opinion as being the truth because you claim you know better than me (or the article author). Then, your final comment totally shows you're not to be taken as legitimate at all. Thank you for discrediting yourself.

Exactly, why people fail to see the big picture and how it works is astounding to me.

Look at how uneducated you come off as. I can barely make out what you're trying to say here. How can some of you be this dumb.
Prove Strumm wrong then, show us what he has said that is factually wrong.

I don't have to prove anything. the blogger/tweeter in question does that himself on a regular basis. If you want to argue something legitimate, name your subject. otherwise just acknowledge the fact that I am a politically neutral poster calling out a for the most part bullshit blog so other readers understand what was quoted.
