Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) was campaigning for GOP Senate hopeful Herschel Walker on Tuesday when he delivered what appears to be a slight flub in his speech.
“The best way to get off track for America is to elect Herschel Walker into the United States Senate in Georgia,” the senator said, unironically.
Graham — who, again, was there campaigning for Walker — apparently meant to say the former NFL star turned politician is “the best way” to get America back “on” track.
He preceded his head-scratcher of a sentence by asking the crowd: “How many of you believe that America is on the wrong track?”
The Republican senator also asked the crowd for a round of applause for Walker and his family “for putting up with all this crap.”
He was probably referring to the widely reported accusations that Walker, who is running on an antiabortion platform, paid for an ex-girlfriend’s abortion in 2009.
