In fairness, I’d largely forgotten about Santos until he came back in the news last week.
More Republicans voted against Santos's expulsion than for it. By contrast, Senate Democrats told Menendez to resign or face expulsion. Big difference.

Not only did Republicans actually hold a vote and actually expel Santos, they did so before his case even went to trial.

You’re trying to compare what Republicans did shortly after Santos was indicted by a grand jury with what Democrats eventually did only after Menendez was convicted.

Of course Republicans did nominate a convicted criminal/felon for President in 2024 AFTER he was convicted.
Which in this case would actually be a valid comparison. But the Santos/Menendez comparisons are so horrifically bad that it almost makes me embarrassed for them.

Santos was tossed before his case went to trial. He pleaded guilty yesterday.
Menendez wasn’t tossed…he resigned after his guilty verdict.

As soon as he was convicted he was “out” too… no more appeals, extensive hearings, or needless fal-de-ral…not so with Santos…. or Trumpf. Of course it’s probably because of the ethics of the leadership in the two Parties. And he was fully exposed to his Congressional colleagues as a fraud and a cheat before he took his oath of office…..but he was seated by his fellow Republicans, despite the obvious fraud and theft associated with his campaign.
