Our new regular visits with an assistant. Today we get Seth Wallace.

Short summary of his comments.

Opening Statement

Thought they played well last week. Lot of good things and things to work on. Looking ahead to Iowa State, a team they haven't see in two years. Challenging team.

Asked about ISU and if we might see more traditional 4-3 from Iowa...lot more TE's

Said probably going to have to play more 4-3 and the challenge is they are really good and tough on gap discipline.

Asked if Jacobs is a fit for this?

Yes he is. The more we can get him involved, the better. Still more development for all the linebackers. Jacobs has played both outside and weakside. Might be more OLB this week.

Asked about Phil Parker and his keys to longevity and what you learn from him?

Iowa has been very lucky to have him. He helps created a culture with Norm and Phil. Said he was a GA for Phil. They created culture for the players and coaches. Said Phil is comfortable here.

Asked about Kyler Fisher and his development?

Came in as a walk-on and we have had a lot of success with them. He's at the front end of his development. Seeing it on special teams. Couldn't keep weight down at DB, so moved to LB

Seeing from the four freshmen?

They come to work every day. They are prepared. So much still ahead of them. A lot going on for freshman so helping them to manage it. Don't see them jumping in to things all that often. Like what they have seen from them. Looking forward to the bye week when you can spend more time with them. Right now they are on the scout team.

Asked about Breece Hall and dealing with him?

Have gone there and competed against some good one's over the year. Mentioned David Montgomery in the past and now Hall. Really talented QB too. When Hall is in the open he is as good as there is in college football.

High stress game for the linebackers with a mobile QB and accuracy of the QB. Are you prepared for it?

Says they feel prepared. Players feel prepared. Said it will matter than happens on the field. Still kind of unknowns at TE with Kolar not playing last week. Expect him to play this week. There's a lot of stress out there and we wouldn't want to have it any other way.

His take on the DL play in the first week? Did anyone stand out?

Said his assistant DC title it's just for him to tell Phil when the meeting starts. Said he was impressed with the DL. Said Kelvin and Jay do a great job with those players. They are going to continue to get better. Said you saw improvement. Said there is nothing more welcoming than getting the first win and assess the tape and where you can get better.

On Benson and his play?

He is so unassuming. He is in on every play. Said he understands the game and gets where he needed to be. He finds his way to the football. Said he is a core part of what we do on defense.

What is the message in such a tight game like this one is expected to be?

Said in the game two years ago we gave up two big plays and that's something we don't like to do. Gave up two over 25 last time. Said not try to do too much early and put our feet in the ground and fight.

That's it from Seth Wallace. Biggest takeaway is expect to see the 4-3 with Jacobs out there a lot on Saturday
