Shades of Jimmy Hart

I can't wait for all the excuses after he takes some losses. Not to mention, he wouldn't have sniffed the stand last year if the officials actually made him wrestle. It was borderline comical

Downey is very talented and though it is tough to tell from afar, it seems like he has things on track in his personal life. Both are good to see because he's had a lot to overcome based on the parenting influence in his life.

His dad's constant excuse making and bragging is high comedy. However, Downey has the talent to be a high AA even with 184 being a tough weight. The Hodge comments are laughable though.

NY's post and PD's response were the best:

NY: He All American'd with a freaking broken rib!!!

PD2: So did Downey, Einstein; '5th'...bumping up a weight class and with less than ten matches under his belt!!! :) Your boy do that!?

NY: It was a joke Mr Downey regarding what you said that's Kurt Angle.

PD3 will make people forget about Kurt Angle!

PD3 is a talented / tough kid, he very well may have a a huge year and surprise people by finishing higher than expected in the years toughest weight, but he really needs to put his old man in a figure four until he promised to stop posting like moron.

The good news is he seems pretty level headed.

Remember when half of this board wanted us to get Downey to replace Burak, and they just couldn't wrap their heads around why some of us just weren't interested? I'm sure no one will come forward due to selective memory, but these threads did exist

Classic! We got a gopher parent mocking a parent of an ISU wrestler on the Iowa forum. Love it!

Shall we start a gofundme and have PBS vs PD2 at intermission of the MN vs ISU meet (assuming they scrap this year) Winner takes all.

We have a fan/poster having a chuckle at the pro wrestling style promotion of a wrestler by another fan/message board poster. I shared because it's entertaining forum fodder in the final week leading into the season. Who anyone sired is independent of that.

You are infactuated.

The Downey Dad needs to get off the booze or roids. He is just crazy and scary with his son infatuation. I actually wonder about the kid as if my Dad did that he would be shut down right away. Wow.

You're in luck! February 19th (last day of the regular season) at Hilton! (they also will both be at Cliff Keen Las Vegas)

And now this PSU fan is laughing here on an Iowa board at a joke an Ohio State fan made on an Iowa State board. See? We can all get along.

I used to be a photographer and did lots of commercial shoots (catalogs) involving kids and stage parents. There's a Pat Downey's Dad in every competitive kid scenario, living through their kid for all the wrong reasons. Those parents are beyond hope but you hope the kid figures it out and the need for therapy is minimal.

Would it be LE2 vs PD2?

either way my money is on you. After the fight i'll take you to joe tess's for some carp ribs or tails. man, those potatoes and the piece of bread. good stuff, a rib bone made a good toothpick. Is that BBQ rib joint still downtown on 25th and farnam next to the girlie show place?

After he beat Klap in the IC Duals - yes, I do recall those.

Thanks for posting this PBS - good find and exhibit A why most parents should avoid message boards.

Put the team bias to the side and you just got a bunch of guys who like to talk wrestling. Shouldn't be that hard to get along

PD2 seems like the kind of dad who gets drunk with his son and then they challenge guys to bar brawls.

That or bang prostitutes together. Klass with a capital K.

KJ's quote is hilarious:

— Jackson’s best quip of the day came in response to a question about his colorful 184-pounder.

“I don’t know if you follow Pat Downey on Twitter,” Jackson said with a laugh. “If you do, you shouldn’t.”

Yikes on the KJ quote.

You can't ever go wrong with joe Tessa's. It's a staple here. They sell the beading and seasoning there now too.

Not sure on the ribs. We don't have a whole lot of great bbq here. We go to KC for that. You might be thinking if the old smoker pitt BBQ. Unfortunately, it closed a couple years back.
