Reports said that the shooting happened at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. It was not immediately known how many people were injured. Video posted online showed a musician performing outside the Mandalay Bay at Route 91 Harvest, a country music festival, when the sound of automatic gunfire rang out. The music stopped, and concertgoers ducked for cover. “Get down,” one shouted. “Stay down,” screamed another.

I live in Barstow, about two hours from there. Fighting with my current girlfriend, she has me blocked, and I can't get a hold of her. Hoping she didn't go to Vegas to blow off steam. My anxiety is through the roof right now. Very scary. Apparently there's only 2 confirmed deaths, but many, many more could be coming.

Holy shit, this is terrifying.

Twitter makes it sound like there are 20+ dead. From all the automatic fire in the videos I can believe it.

Reports of multiple shooters is being proven untrue. Likely a diversion.

Death toll now at least 50 with at least 200 wounded - now worst shooting event ever in US.

Just got back from Vegas yesterday morning. Wife was at Mandalay Bay Saturday night for the Michael Jackson Cirque show.

Incredibly sad.

We live in a sick effing country. Yet no one apparently has the political will to do anything about it. Pretty pathetic for the so called "greatest country on Earth". Thoughts and love to the victims' loved ones.
What is your political solution to prevent this bro? Confiscate all guns?

Really? I didn't even stake a side. Is it even controversial anymore to say we need to look into how to stop this crap? Stop being an overly sensitive little bish. People like you are part of the problem. We can't have rational discussion in this country.
Now straight to name calling. Awesome. Wonder why we can't have rational discussions.

Horrible horrible tragedy. Many families completely devastated right now. Can we not take pot shots at the "other" political party just yet? (You know that's really what you were doing.)

It goes much deeper than that. Both sides get at some core truths: the right is right when pointing out it's a mental health issue and ultimately it takes someone pulling the trigger. Yet they are the same scumbags eliminating the type of programs that make mental health opprtunities available. The left has a point about the prevalence of guns in this country. We are addicted. But how does one eliminate the type of weapon that can kill 50 people in seconds? And will it really keep these out of people's hands? Will anyone start showing common sense about the types of weapons that should be available? Are we past the point of no return? The gun/murder industry and the NRA certainly have the GOP on their knees servicing them. BUT there's even more to it than that. We need an "all in" approach on the causes, yet no one wants to listen.

There, you asked for my view. Most importantly, think about these families foremost today.

Maybe if one party was not paid off by the NRA we could have a conversation on gun control.

You just want this to go away like all the shootings. This may have been the last straw. Time for some adult conversations about gun control.
No, no I don't. And I agree actually that discussions should be had... I'm just "grossed out" when people immediately take a shot at the opposing political party when something like this happens. Menace just never misses an opportunity to attack the Republican Party.

Anyway, I'm done... just trying to ask people on both sides to not use situations like this to show "see... I was right and you were wrong". That's dumb

I just don't want this to be down played as one side wants. The "don't politicize" this is their hope to buy time for emotions to die down and it will be forgotten.

That's bad. In all honesty surprised this hasn't happened more often. Casinos are almost too good to be true to someone who wanted to inflict a bunch of damage and have mass casualties.

I was just out there in April and had dinner in the Luxor. Isn't the Luxor and Mandalay Bay on opposite sides of the strip??

Really? Have you seen some of the political talk on here that involves our president? I think there is plenty of blame.

God bless the families who lost loved ones
