I noticed that they are only going to sign 15 kids this first signing period. Does this mean they are going after the transfer portal in bigger numbers. Most of the rest of the schools have close to 20 or more outside of Purdue.
You have to keep in mind, like all teams, they need to get down to 105 on the roster. So 15 really feels like 25 in a normal year. They need to save some room for potential incoming portal signees to plug some holes. I think 15 feels about right all things considered. There is going to be some kids squeezed out next year in many programs and many portal guys won't find a home.I noticed that they are only going to sign 15 kids this first signing period. So why is Iowa numbers lower than the rest of the teams in the Big if that was the case. I would think 20 would be the magic number…You have to keep in mind, like all teams, they need to get down to 115 on the roster. So 15 really feels like 25 in a normal year. You are correctThought the roster has to be down to 105, not 115.
You are correct ... now edited so from 120 on roster to 105. Some teams have 130+ today with walk-ons.Thought the roster has to be down to 105, not 115.
Our current 2025 numbers might be lower because we have had fewer than normal transfer out compared to most B1G teams. If you look at the current 2025 class based on Rivals star rating ... it was a typical year ... Iowa avg star rating of 3.27. That puts us 8 out of 18 in the B1G and right behind Wisconsin and Nebraska. We are #28 nationally based on star rating. Nebraska is #23 and Wiscy #25. Pretty normal from that perspective. So why is Iowa numbers lower than the rest of the teams in the Big if that was the case. I would think 20 would be the magic number…
