IIRC, Ferentz is not a big Meyer fan and gave him a quick handshake with no conversation the last time these teams played. Missed them meeting in the middle of the field yesterday, but would assume Meyer was shell shocked and walking like a zombie after that ass kicking. Any observations?

I guess I didn't seem them get together. Just looked liked both of their security teams got them off the field as quick as possible.

That's what I saw as well. However, the tears of joy streaming down my face may hav clouded my view.

Also, as someone else said. The conversation they were having before the game looked like they were old pals from back in the day.

KF is always amicable before the game with opposing coaches. Hell he even talks to Dantonio, and that must be a hard pill to swallow....

I wondered about this, whether Meyer would even shake hands at the end of the game. I do not recall seeing him, but with the swarm that hit the field, I obviously missed it. One thing that I have held on to for a few years was when Meyer came to the B1G, he made comments that the conference needed to recruit to Ohio State's caliber of talent. Pretty cocky comments if I recall! I wonder what he thinks of our talent now?

I'm sure Kirk told the Urb sorry for the beatdown and you better get the hell outta here cause it's gonna get crazy in the next 30 seconds then they bolted to their locker rooms with their entourage of cops.

Makes you wonder if the B1G office is going to mandate no swarming the field after a big win. I hope you not, it's part of what makes college football so great.

Meyer started to head to midfield but when he saw the fans swarming like crazy he turned around and headed to the exit, and I couldn't blame him one bit. I also saw an official get kind of engulfed by fans, and couldn't help but think "man I hope no one makes a stink about this swarming of the fans" since it is such a cool thing (but can be dangerous, remember when that player (?Mizzou?) cold-cocked a fan in a situation like this?)

In the SEC (and remember, that's where Urban came from), they don't allow any and I mean ANY fans on the field or the university gets a huge fine. I really hope no one complains about yesterday's events, but I fear eventually someone (an opposing coach or an official, most likely) will, and then a cool tradition will be gone.

They just swarmed the field at tOSU last week after their big win vs PSU so they shouldn't be too upset since they got to be on the victorious side.

Heard Meyer before game with Dolph and he said nothing but great things about KF and claim they talk all the time.

Meyer had some very nice things to say after the game about the toughness of our players, coach and the people of Iowa. In the Gazette.

“They’re just tough. They are like their coach. Their coach is a tough guy. They’re like the state of Iowa. They’re tough people. I love the state of Iowa.”

I have renewed respect for coach Meyer. Classy statement.

Good to hear. Good for Urban.

I wouldn't be surprised if KF called Urbs to let him know the fake punt wasn't called though. But I'm guessing he could tell based on Kirk's and Parker's reaction...

Before the game they showed them both talking and smiling for quite a while. It appeared that Ferentz had no issue with Meyer.

Terrible thread

I'm a lip reader and I could see Kirk telling him "Look, after we hang 50 and thoroughly whip your asses, don't worry about shaking hands afterwards."

As mentioned above, most of the praise for Iowa came before the game. After the game Urban didn't have a lot to say at all. Very short with his answers and there wasn't much in the way of praise for the Hawks. This is about the most he spoke:
“Obviously, turnovers. At the line of scrimmage, we couldn’t stop them. Good team, tough environment, didn’t play very well and, uh, turnovers […] We gave them a 7-0 jump-start there at the beginning of the game. We got the ball at midfield, and then two offensive linemen went down with injuries. They came back, but we weren’t right since that moment. One guy goes in, makes a mistake and allows a sack, fumble. Disappointed we couldn’t stop them though, too.

“They just played very well against us. They really didn’t do very much different than they have in the past. They were baiting ya, playing between two receivers. That’s their coverage. We just didn’t play very well. I’ll know more after watching videotape, evaluating it.”

Gee Urban, sure seemed like Hooker TOOK that first pick six, as opposed to you GIVING it to us. You got outcoached badly out there Urban and apparently took the Hawks very lightly, but can't bear to admit any fault.

How are you going to stop it?
