Good year in St. Louis, and I understand from a couple of friends in the h.s. coaching ranks here that next year looks pretty good too. Would be nice to continue to pull a player out of here each year while Mizzou is a dumpster fire.

7 total Power 5 conference signees so far.

Dallas ranked number 5.

I live in Eureka, so I've seen Haskins play a couple times. I don't know if Iowa recruited him much, but Michigan got a player. I'm afraid he'll become David Johnson for them.

From what I know, Iowa really wanted Ronnie Perkins but Oklahoma was always a favorite. tOSU poached Cameron Brown from Nebraska even with Scott Frost coming. That says a lot in my book. Of course, Brown is a teammate of Kamryn Babb. The Ezekiel Elliot connection (STL) is helping the Buckeyes when they need fallback recruits.

I believe Iowa never offered Hankins because they were very happy with Geil. Iowa, also, lost interest in Trevor Trout when he did not listen to coaching at various camps. Daniel Carson sort of became the odd man out when LInderbaum and Shannon committed to Iowa. Iowa (especially coaches Levar Woods and Kelton Copeland) should be making regular visits to the Kansas City and St. Louis metros alot in the next couple of years. Some very good skills players in those areas.

Trout and Thompson not expected to sign til February. Got the impression that trout is a bit arrogant from an interview. Wish they had a lb floating around unsigned.

Personally, I believe Iowa will be okay next year at LB. Welch and Jones played some decent minutes this year and will be in their third years in the Iowa program. Nick Neimann is a DC's (Northern ILL. I believe) son. Ben probably has prepped and talked a lot of LB shop with Nick and their father. Barrington Wade is probably the wild card. Hope I am right. Hockaday and Mends are seniors but have not really done much more than special teams. Unknown factor may be Djimon Colbert.

Two guys I find it very interesting about Nate Wieland and Dillon Doyle. Iowa City area kids that really performed well their senior HS years and both highly cerebral and gym rat type of guys who grasp new information quickly. Doyle probably would have earned more recruiting points and offers had he waited to accept the Iowa offer. Maybe they will not see much action this coming year, or they may be on special teams. Dillon is going to early enroll. Spring ball should be fun.

Iowa should be able to offer 3 LBs next year. Nick Henrich and Jack Campbell seem like Iowa commits( bring your lunch pail guys). Add someone like Shammond Cooper and let Seth Wallace do his job.

Henrich got the psu offer. Hope his recruiting don't take off or we could be out. I know Shammond is a higher rated guy and probably looking upper level program.

Can't sleep on Jack Kiser. Great athlete! Would make a very good college backer.

I'd like to see Geno Stone or Hooker getting reps at Leo against spread teams. Need speed and agility on the flank more than size. Both look to be able to handle run support just fine.

We will have a dominate DLine and secondary for the foreseeable future. Possibly an ATG DLine coming up with AJE, Nixon, Shannon, Waggoner, Linderbaum, and whoever else. Safety play is going to be tremendous with Stone, Hooker, and Craddieth. Hankins is going to be extremely good, but I think we need more from the opposite side.

It would be very wise for a big-time linebacker to sign with us this year.

I wouldn't call Mizzou a dumpster fire. Last couple years you could have said that, but not so much now. I think they will be building on some good momentum.

They finished 7-5 with a nice 2nd half of the season, they're playing Texas in a bowl game the same night Iowa's playing in NYC, and their QB broke the SEC season touchdown record this year.

I'm in the camp that Hooker has to move down from SS. There is absolutely no track record from ANY of our returning LB'S. Parker's defensive is set up on solid LB play. D-line takes care of the 5 O-line and the backers fill and make plays. This spring is wide open!!!! Could be the difference of us having great season or 7-5 type year.

Out of those 7 wins (3 were at home versus 1 FCS MVC bottom dweller Mizzou St., and 2 FBS lower conference competitors (Idaho and Connecticut) which had a combined yearly production of 10 wins and 25 losses that yields 192 points while earning 76 against Mizzou). The other 4 wins had 3 come within the Eastern (weaker) Division rivals. The combined yearly win /loss record of those opponents were 5 wins and 27 losses (Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Arkansas). Mizzou outscore their opponents 188 to 85. Down year definitely at Florida.

Of Mizzou's 5 losses, they were outscored 210 to 92 (even Purdue beat them 35 to 3 at home). The win losses record of those 5 opponents (USCar, Purdue, Auburn, Kentucky and Georgia -- all bowl teams) was overall 44 and 18( in SEC play the four teams were 23 wins and 9 losses.

Maybe Mizzou is not the dumpster fire of a year ago, but it is hardly the program it was in the Big 12. Not sure why Mizzou with its higher rated recruiting classes produces less NFL talent and lower winning results than Iowa. Maybe that's why Missouri's best football talent is starting to exit out of state at a greater rate.

Go Hawks!

Wow, I've never had that type of research done on one of my posts before, and it looks like it took a while. Thanks!

All I said was, I wouldn't call them a dumpster fire (7-5 and playing Texas in a bowl). What other teams that finished 7-5 this season would you consider a dumpster fire? And I said they had some momentum (they've won their last six games). What other team that is on a 6-0 run would you say doesn't have some nice momentum?

If Mizzou is a dumpster fire, what is Iowa, Purdue, Iowa State, etc.? And to take it down a notch, if Mizzou is a dumpster fire, what's the new moniker for a season like Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Baylor, etc. just had? Just saying the dumpster fire label is a little extreme.

Go Hawks!

Yeah, I never thought about that as an option for a linebacker for next year. Hopefully Iowa is keeping an eye out for such things. That could work out to be perfect

Bowling Green and South Dakota making some hay in St Louis with multiple recruits.
I was really surprised also at the number of Top 30 kids form STL committing to South Dakota. Hawks might want to take a close look at their recruiter.

What's the deal with Ty Hunter-Collins? From STL originally. Been at Iowa Western, but havent heard much about him. Is he a prospect at all?

Illinois had a grad transfer go to Maryland. I was surprised there was not much of an Iowa push there. I don't know that they need to bring in a starter but bringing in an outsider would solidify the pecking order of who wants to step up IMO.

Hockaday will be a stud next year
