As I've posted, I had reasonable expectations for this team, but holy cow the regression!

1. For the love of God, please go away from the post-focused offense with the stupid lob passes. If you have a Luka Garza equivalent it's understandable.
2. Need more perimeter motion, pick and roll/pop and pace.
3. More Harden, Guyton and Stremlow!
4. Make free throws a practice priority when players are tired.
5. Did I mention, push the ball on offense!

It was very interesting listening to AJ Guyton on Hawkeye in the Storm last night. He has cred as a former Indiana player, NBA player and coach. He says push the ball and run a set offense only as a last resort. Put Aliyah at point so Lucy can play her game. Clear out the clogged lane so players can operate.
He also said we've only seen a small portion of what Aliya? can do.

I've been saying the same thing. They have to push the ball. Their half court offense is awful and where most of the TO's occur. I've also stated Guyton needs to start and take over the team. She's just scratching her potential. TIme to hand her the reigns with Lucy at the 2.

Unfortunately, I think #1 is here to stay.

So, what does Sides have to do with this thread besides she was given the whole or most of the season to fix the Fever issues.
Jan is still in the first third of the Iowa season. How can you compare?

Are we playing nearly 60 games this year?

I show ten regular season games left this season, so 2/3 of the way through. I'll admit I'm wrong if we suddenly turn things around, but I'm seeing things heading the wrong way so far.

Sides got fired for her efforts, and they made the playoffs.

Guyton needs a long leash like clark had. She is the only real playmaker on the team. They have nothing that resembles a offense. Stremlow nothin but a role player. Jan maybe squandering away all the goodwill clark provided. Something that makes me wonder is after 2 or 3 yrs sulke doesn t have a 10ft shot. 10 ft how fn hard. Is a 10 foot shot.

So how can you compare Iowa with the fever if they're not playing same number of games?
Iowa 30 games. Fever 60 games.
Iowa has to fix the problem quicker playing half as many games?

The way Guyton's dad talks makes me feel like she's in the portal next year. Just a feeling.
That's the way the world works now, and it would not surprise me one bit. Kids used to be pretty much stuck. Now, they have options, and they're not afraid to use them. I think the Guytons undestand the situation exactly, and they'll do what they think is in their best interests.

Stremlow absolutely is a spot duty/role player, on the post game show Kachine nailed it with her description of her offense being a black hole. She accurately described her getting the ball and standing there frozen.

The two seasons are going in opposite directions. We haven't even played the toughest teams on our schedule yet.

He also said her knee swells after every game and will not be normal until next year it is reported

Flip it, Sides coaching this group and Jan coaching CC in her first year at Indiana. Or put CC on the Hawks this year, and not on the Fever. It's not complicated.
True. CC was able to overcome bad coaching by sides, and Iowa can't overcome bad coaching without CC.

If Guyton leaves then next year could be worse than this year.
I bet more than Guyton will leave. No way these freshman like this style of basketball. Jan may have recruited them, but it was Bluder's system they wanted to play for. Not this Lick-Lite slow it down and try to feed the post crap.

There is nothing in that discussion that would hint or suggest that. You might have been listening with a bias toward that being a thing, but it's not there.

Like the boyfriend that keeps telling the girl she is going to leave you eventually. Yeah, probably if you keep saying it.

You guys really need to quit doomcasting the future of the program. Girls will leave, others will come. Pretty much par for teams up and down the ranks.

Jan would need to move ogrady to pg and Lucy to center, then make the girls shoot left handed to reach Sides level of suck.. That's essentially what she did to CC before management stepped in.

And?! Did you listen to Jan’s presser? Were you wrong ?

They aren’t running a different system…

No shit…. Hell now nowadays it’s our own fans that are encouraging a player to leave because they’re pissed about the results. And “that player” is a part of those results…WTH?!

Man, this was full of bad takes….. often times get a lot of shit for telling people they don’t know what they’re talking about.

They aren’t running a different offense than they have been…

They aren’t running a lot of “sets”….

As you’ve noticed everyone’s hero Guyton is now in a lull and certainly not someone you would “give the keys to”….

How could anybody read what many of you say and think you have any clue how to coach a basketball team?

As we all learned, if we listen to Jan’s pressor, there’s a whole lot of things going on sickness, girls heading up the ladder while girls are heading down the ladder all the time.

When you only gauge coaching, “by wins and losses” you’re gonna miss out on a lot of growth.

I go back and reread this kind of stuff sometimes and just literally shake my head

Did you know that by using the "quote" feature you can reply to each post you have an issue with in one reply? Then at the end you can post you thoughts (or diatribe) thereby not having to create 6 posts. Consider this your lesson for the day!

Yes

Sides got fired for her efforts, and they made the playoffs.
From what I recall concerning this is that Sides finally gave way from her system of throwing into the post frequently trying to go through Boston and Smith, and allowed the players to play a free flowing type of game. That allowed for CC to create more for her mates as well as herself. Their record improved dramatically once she removed the constraints and players became more comfortable with CC's passing game.

Agree. It essentially became "Give Caitlin the ball and let her do her thing."

I'm guessing that was mandated by management.
