Signal text chain released

As I mentioned before, everyone should be investigated including the soul that wasn’t supposed to be part of that chat.
I’m fine investigating him, seems like he was fully in his rights, but the full investigation will certainly involve him. I look forward to the congressional hearings as this plays out.

Goldberg and Atlantic contacted multiple white house officials yesterday asking if this info was classified and they stuck to the trump narrative that it was not classified and they and their minions continued to attack Goldberg as a liar.

The white house is arrogant and incompetent enough to not realize that Goldberg had the smoking gun.

Truly unbelievable.
Despite the information being 100% classified, I guess Golberg decided to put the onus on the WH via the FO part of FAFO.

Even though the attack has taken place, I'm curious why the change of course by Goldberg, given that similar attacks could take place in the future.

From the article:
On Saturday, March 15, Hegseth posted an update and others responded in texts that Goldberg said he would not publish because "the information contained in them, if they had been read by an adversary of the United States, could conceivably have been used to harm American military and intelligence personnel, particularly in the broader Middle East, Central Command's area of responsibility."

The building is on fire, Trump and his band of idiots are running around with a blow torch and oily rags, and Northern wants to know who called the fire department.

So if they go after this guy, you will blame who? Even after they said it’s not classified?
Let's take the journalist out of this for a moment.

How do you feel about:

1. Practices considered dangerous to national security.
2. The actual disclosure of classified information.
3. The double-down lying of the administration to cover up 1&2?

As Ferentz_Fan pointed out, even if it's ultimately deemed to be not classified, it's still sensitive.
So lets use this method of communication….ffs…Sensitive enough this guy shouldn’t release, but not enough to use proper communications. You guys look dumber and dumber trying to defend this travesty of incompetence, brought about by the fat Orange dictator because he wants allegiance to him more than anything resembling competence.

Nope.

Top intel officials claim no classified information was shared in group chat with journalist

It walks like classified. It swims like classified. It quacks like classified. It SHOULD have been classified. But it isn't classified.

If it was classified, everyone on that group chat egregiously violated the law...so it CAN'T be classified.
And yet every.single.person I know in the IC says it IS classified (including myself). I just pinged my daughter to see what the chatter is at NSA-W (she's a DNEA there).

Did you know a simple recall roster is Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) (formerly U//FOUO)? I wasn't even allowed to say where I was being deployed to over the phone for OPSEC concerns, BUT NOOOOOO, this info is UNCLASSIFIED. 😡

Senior officials at DOD had been explicitly warned to not use commercial apps to exchange ANY important information. This was all about doing things behind a curtain where they could destroy the evidence, and the curtain fell. The question left to ponder is how much business ARE they doing with no record of what happened.

Again, investigate the whole thing that took place, everyone, this includes the reporter.

So, you're surprised that classified information was clearly mishandled and that the Trump administration would make an attempt at CYA by stating the information was unclassified? At an absolute minimum, the convesational information in that discussion iss CUI, but just looking at what's in the first post, I'd say that info is TS/SCI due to the risk it poses to national security, operational success, and force protection.

The mission type "trigger-based", means it's tied to real-time intelligence (ISR), as well as if the "known location" of the target is (I'd say IS not IF) based on NSA SIGINT, CIA HUMINT, or satellite imagery, so the intelligence would definitely be TS//SCI. However, since the sources aren't revealed in the chat the admin could say this was basically sanitized info and get away with TS Collateral.

This administration had better get Hillary's name out their mouths. ...and shame on the journalist for making it public.

I am asking YOU Sir, you wanted the chat released?
I'm totally fine with it as all non-ideologically impaired Americans should be. We should all understand the incompetence of these people who work for us. There was no reason to even have this chat amongst all of these people. WTF does Scott Bessent have to do with imminent military actions? What happened to the concept of keeping military plans as discrete as possible amongst as small a group as possible? What happened to ensuring secure communications? One of the members of this chat on this unsecured platform was in Russia at the time.

Finally, everyone involved in this flat out lied and denied when questioned about it. Should we know all of this? Abso****inglutely.

I'm not defending anything.

Oh…

What is there to investigate? Unless you're saying that the conversation I just read isn't real, that's mishandling of classified information (the discussion itself techically considered a practice dangerous to security) followed by an actual disclosure (to the uncleared journalist).

At NSA-T I walked out of a building and got hit with a random inspection where they found a "classified" document in my possession. I was escorted to the FSO. Fortunately, it was a mismarked meeting agenda (Marked SECRET) and I hadn't left the building. But I had to endure an entire investigation for a mismarked meeting agenda.

Now, apply those same rigorous controls for actual classified information to this scenario and tell me why you're not pissed!

I am asking YOU Sir, you wanted the chat released?
I did. I took the word of our totally honest administration that there was nothing classified and no strategies in it. Boy oh boy do I have egg on my face. I can't believe they all lied about it. Some under oath. I think it best that none of us ever believe another word they say. Wouldn't you agree, Sir?

All you had to say was Yes, thank you.

Oh…

You know the bigger issue was the addition of an uncleared individual, right? Classification is only one part of the equation, "need to know" is the other. I've been screaming this from the rooftop for decades, elected officials with access to classified material need more training and, more importantly, must be held accountable. They are literally thwarting the hard work and protections the IC has in place.

I’m not OK with the chat being released, even though many of you are.

There was an awful lot of perjury committed in front of a Congressional committee yesterday.

I’m sure the GOP will hold those lies to account in the proper way.
Skunk stripe is just disgusting.

She won't last til 2028.
Hell, she might not make it to 2026.

...and shame on the journalist for making it public.
Sorry...and I get it...but no. Goldberg was extremely circumspect in the original story. This admin then repeatedly attacked him and denied the truth. This might only sway a handful of cultists but absent this, the story dies in the darkness. This HAD to be made public to demonstrate for the record how utterly incompetent these people are. His word against their word accomplishes nothing. Had Goldberg not thrown back the entire curtain, I have zero doubt that they would be back on Signal tomorrow doing the same thing. I would like to wrap his story around a baseball bat, go to Congress, and beat those moral cowards bloody.

Like I said to the other person who has the same stance, "I see your perspective." For me, as a retired Intel Analyst, I cringe every time I see the crap get leaked, published, etc. Knowing what the IC does to protect sources, procedures, basically our TTPs, it makes me nauseated.

I sincerely see the civilian side of this though.

Why do you say shame on the journalist? He offered to share the info in a SCIF, no one took him up on his offer. Then the admin said the info wasn’t classified and I’m sure his lawyers told him what St Louis pointed out above - that he is allowed under our constitution to release the info even if it was classified.

Further by sharing this info he forces the admin to confront their own incompetence. This is critical to improving the safety and security of our troops going forward. At least now they will be more vigilant in how they discuss war plans. That is a net positive to our troops in dangerous places. Not to mention the admin was actively working to trash the guy’s reputation.

Sorry, I think exposing this was patriotic. I don’t see it as shameful at all.
BINGO. You can bet your a** this won't happen again. This journalist saved lives.
