Tennessee ob physician feared losing her license and ability to practice if she performed a potentially life saving abortion there.

I had not heard of the affirmative defense issue but BAU for the Christian jihadists that make up the Republican Party.

It's not about the babies, its about control.

In order to assert the medical necessity defense the doctor needs to abort the baby, get charged with a class C felony, hire a lawyer, and prove necessity as an affirmative defense in a criminal trial.

That's too much to ask.

How long of a trip would it have been to a drug store for contraceptives before the women became pregnant?
This is a monumentally stupid post. Even for you. Did you even read the article? She was in her second trimester. Life threatening complications were developing. The baby had a defect that made it non viable.

Or are you saying that every woman should use birth control routinely and we should let the human race die out?

Ah hell, just send ALL the bills to the State of Tenn. The problem solved.

If that's your stance then that's the end of all children.

STOP HUMANITY NOW!

(hint: it could have been a planned pregnancy)

Here’s another needle in the haystack reported today. I woman in Joplin Missouri was denied an abortion for a non-viable dying baby inside her. The physicians wouldn’t induce an abortion in Missouri unless her vital signs deteriorated or until the fetus actually died. She is 40+ and waiting put her general and future reproductive health at risk. She had to travel To Illinois across Missouri to seek an abortion, going into labor on the way.

All because the state of Missouri wouldn’t let her terminate a non-viable pregnancy. Meanwhile, the Christian jihadists like @KFsdisciple dismiss these struggling women as "needles in the haystack". Dismiss their suffering. Dismiss their right to healthcare.

Many pro-lifers aren't very worldly or knowledgeable of things outside their teeny-tiny (often religious induced) bubble. They're a one trick pony. We have an abundance of them on this board.

And another issue with the GOP stance on abortion includes reducing services at such entities as Planned Parenthood.

You seem to enjoy being on the wrong side of this discussion.

I'll see your BS and go all in with a full stack of BS. You pro-life people are dogshit and only "care" when it's convenient. And that time period you "care?" It's only before the fetus is born and becomes a baby that your tax dollars would need to support. After that - SOCIALISM! Derp.

It's absolutely about control because you don't like it. Your poor little heads can't wrap around a different "morality" than the one you've created through who knows what means.

I wish you'd all just admit it.

I wish you folks could admit that the "truth" you just spewed is typically only applicable to politicians and not to passionate pro-lifers who actually do care about the preservation of life and often put their money/time where their mouth is. It's a statistical fact that Christians are responsible for the majority of adoptions in this country and churches do a ton of outreach programs for single moms.

Both sides are guilty of regurgitating political sound bites. ...Personally, I'm tired of repeating myself, so just read post #55

Still doesn't make sense when you listen to Lindsay Graham's proposal about national legislation and from the other side of their mouths, Republicans scream "State Control".

That does happen in healthcare. It's one reason why black women experience higher rates of pregnancy/birth complications.
I’m well aware, usually my first thought is systemic racism could be in play. Just want to check out the whole story.

I read your junk the first time.

Let me know when you wonderful sky fairy believing folk are ready to pick up the tab - either by adoption or through increased money in the collection plate that doesn't go to propping up your abhorrent institutions - if every life is saved. You "passionate pro-lifers" are pining for a utopia that won't happen. Reality is knocking son, you're delusional if you think there's an army of "Christians" to piously save all the babies.

In the meantime I'll recognize that while abortion is not something I'd wish on anyone, it's a necessary option for the populous and especially for women.
