I wonder if he smoked.

As a side note, research has linked diets high in sugar (ie, diets filled with high glycemic foods) to lung cancer. Sugar appears to be fuel for cancer cells.

Spoke with the family. They say the doctors tell them there is roughly a 70% survival rate for his specific situation. Everyone has a tremendous attitude. Support is coming in both locally and nationally...some of it from people they don't even know, but apparently have made it a mission to help those fighting various cancer diagnoses.

The family isn't under any delusion. The treatment is going to be aggressive and will unquestionably take an initial toll. But from what I was told, he has responded well in the early going. Everyone is hoping that continues.
