KF mentioned in his presser today that he expects Brandon to return to the field this year and will be dressing this weekend. While his participation could be limited to special teams, it could also end Taylor's tenure at SS, one which has been sketchy at best. If Snyder can get into game shape before the end of the bye week he would be a welcome piece for the remainder of the Big 10 as Iowa hopes to regain the West title.

I totally agree! There has been total frustration at times with his play. I firmly believe that Gair last year was a turning point in our defense. Kid tries super hard, runs back to the huddle, etc. Hooker though has Sanders written all over him! Move him up to SS and Snyder on the back end. Super excited where this defense could go.

I just want them to encourage him to take his time. With ligament and tendon repairs/replacements, I've heard you can feel normal and perform well, before it's truly healed and the injury risk returns to normal (or less than normal).

I don't think we can..

Since he hasn't taken a red-shirt year yet, couldn't he opt into that for this season, or is his participation rate too high already this year? Personally speaking, if he's ready physically and mentally to go for the rest of the year, I say let him play and hopefully that makes the team better overall.

Snyder's participation rate this year is not too high. He hasn't played at all, in fact.

And he has already redshirted.

That help?

The derp! was self directed. Hope that helps you out as well. I don't know why I was thinking he was injured during the season...? It's been a rough morning, so you should cut me some slack. And ichawk24 beat you to the other fact, but thanks anyway.

Had my acl repair in Dec 11 at 40 trained with mma fighters it was my pivet leg I was cleared at 7 mos don't train any more but I have had no issues wrestling grappling Brandon will be fine

It's only been 5 months since his surgery. I don't think he's going to be back to full strength for some time yet...............hope I'm wrong.......he was really playing well at the end of last year.

so because he was injured in the off season he is not eligible for medical redshirt? Does a player have to be injured in a game to be eligible?

That has nothing to do with it. He has already used his redshirt year, so that is out the window. To get a medical hardship, a player usually needs to have missed a major portion of two seasons. His only chance to ever were an Iowa uniform again, is to play this year.

No...I suppose he could apply, but he has 0 chance to get it.
If I'm understanding correctly, it seems unfair that someone doesn't get a chance for a 6th year if red shirting and also missing a full year due to injury vs. being able to if missing 2 full years (or close to) due to injuries. The rule is the rule though.
