When asked about another round of stimulus, Trump replied that he does support it. Not only does he support it, but ...

“I support actually larger numbers than the Democrats,” Trump added.

Apparently, handing out money is cool on both sides now. Can I ask again for some examples of how the GOP is fiscally conservative? And what happened to the Tea Party?

Ever since Reagan, the republicans have liked to use government to increase the wealth of the already wealthy. But to be honest, I'm sure donald is just trying to buy votes along with big campaign contributions.

It was clear prior to his election that Trump was no conservative.

Plenty of wealthy Democrats getting rich off of government. Most of D.C. and the surrounding areas are just Democrats getting rich off of the government funneling taxpayer dollars to each other. It's almost like it's a swamp that needs drained.

Answer my OP please. I'd be very interested to get perspective from conservative.

Trump has no governing philosophy, conservative or otherwise. He wasn't prepared for the question and went with his gut feelings.

"Yea, more money has to be better. Right?"

This reeks of trying to buy some approval points. Which puts the Dems in a tough spot, because if they vote it down they’ll be “evil”. If they pass it, they give Trump a win.

See "so called conservatives" are actually just looking for a handout too!

Washington is really fvcking future generations. Someone is going to eventually have to suffer to pay off this debt. Hopefully I am wrong. The republican play book has been to increase spending and lowering taxes. Doesn't make any sense. And I wonder how they will be able to increase the defense budget with the Trump's American first philosophy in regards to pulling bases in other countries. That, to me, would result in a decrease in defense spending.

And the conservative tag is really amazing to me with not only the spending. Bush starting a 'preventive' war with Iraq. Trump with the tariffs and welfare for farmers...oh and being buddies with Putin. Who are these republicans?

I am more of an opportunist for my own self interests. Why not take as much money as you can from the government AND keep are taxes low? We are too far gone as it is so we might as well take advantage of the printing press

I'm fine with your stance. However, then don't criticize "socialists" on the left when you are really for the exact same thing.

Everyone wants to protect their own self interests. We are a selfish country.

So you support a UBI. Glad to see people coming around to my man Andrew Yang!

Only liberals have claimed Trump to be a conservative

Trust me I am not for this lol but if you are powerless to stop it, why bitch and complain when it is a forgone conclusion? Might as well take advantage and vote the next fraud into office #optimism

It is to the point where the federal government handing out money doesn’t matter. For example, when they signed the CARES act with a snap of the finger they were able to make my interest rate 0% and put me in forbearance without me asking for it. They did that for $1.6 trillion in student debt and nothing happened other than these universities that screwed us over in the first place had to cut their bloated budgets. This whole Covid deal is making me rethink a lot of my positions on the federal government, the private sector, and their relationship.

Honestly idk what I support Torbee. If this year has proven anything, what is our limit on creating wealth through government? How much actual debt can we withstand? How is it that millions of people are u/e but the stock market is at all time highs? There are so many questions I have that are yet to play out with our relationship to the federal government

Of course Trump is for more free money. He has always about getting money you never intend to pay back.

It's gotten a helluva lot worse since January 2017. Thank you for that.

Then why did conservatives vote for him? Makes no sense.

Unless conservatives aren't actually ....
I don't think true conservatives did.

I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary and Trump in the general.
And, only Cons have said he isn’t a lying, misogynistic, bigoted, authoritarian leaning, bumbling fool.
You just described Joe Biden.

Money is a human construct. It is literally nothing more than a physical (more often digital these days) representation of a shared agreement based on trust between humans.

I think “true conservatives” (are there any of those left?) and the Tea Party will magically re-appear when Biden is elected.

It’s pretty gross. The GOP needs some serious reflection and figuring out just who it wants to be.

Really? So why did 92% of registered Republicans vote for Trump? The entire ideology of Republicans is conservatism. So that means 92% of registered conservatives don't actually believe in conservatism. Do you see how that might be a problem? @torbee @Rudolph @artradley you guys, I think, understand where I'm trying to go with this.

Republican validated voters reported choosing Trump by a margin of 92% to 4%

Trump has no political philosophy. Which is frightening for a president of the ****ing United States of America.

I'm honestly not sure what conservatives stand for anymore. I mean, at least Dems have an idea of who and what they are (even if I disagree).

Conservatives used to be anti-tariff ... now its their biggest tactic.

Cons used to be somewhat fiscally conservative ... now they want to out-do "socialist" dems

Cons used to be believe in and vote for family values ... now they encourage "beta cuck" behavior

Cons used to be pro free-market ... now they want to pick winners and losers.

Honestly, what is the conservative platform anymore? Is it literally just to troll liberals? Because if so, that's pretty lame.

Trump was against it until he saw how bad he’s doing in the polls and realized that he’s not winning in November. He wants to hand out more cash to buy some votes and make people like him again.

Odd, not much of a peep from the tea partiers... almost as if it had more to do with a black man in office than actual spending.
I think the actual people of tea party movement are saying shit loud and clear. It is when the tea party movement was hijacked by the RNC then it went to shit. The republicans did their part to put people in office but these fools did opposite of what they preached minus a few and now look where the party is.

I think the actual people of tea party movement are saying shit loud and clear.
What are they saying? I haven't hear a peep in four years despite record levels of debt and increased deficit spending.

Those are the RNC shills that hijacked the tea party. The movement started with Ron Paul and Rick Santellis speech then guess who took advantage of the movement? The hardline Repubbers made it there own and disregarded what the movement actually stood for

Trump represents forty-plus years of “conservatism”. Forty years of selling bullshit, selling an alternative reality, selling grievance and victimhood, so of course Trump ascended. He’s the perfect product of all this nonsense.
