So as of today what is our projected starting 5

If CMac returns he’s in the starting lineup ( unfortunately ). If he came off the bench that’d be ideal bc we all know he’s an offensive liability and Franny won’t have that luxury next year. It is too early to predict a starting lineup bc there is still the realistic chance that Franny lands a player or 2 from the portal. Also don’t know if Joey T sticks around.
Need to put an asterisk by the C position for whoever starts bc it’s likely to be C by committee.

Do you know something about JoeT leaving? That’s the first I’ve heard of that. I hope sticks as I feel he’s going to have his break out year.

Some feel that if Jordan comes back--which I would say is extremely unlikely--that Joe could transfer.

Toussaint, Wieskamp or Perkins, Patrick McCaffery, Keegan Murray, Filip Rebraca 😎
This sounds pretty close right now but I’d not be surprised if Kris Murray pushes his way into consideration, not sure where yet position wise but I just have a feeling he makes a big jump this off season. I’d add that NAIA senior may opt into the Hawkeye program too

Guessing we are going to get heavy doses of the Mccaffery boys.

Starters:
G Toussaint
G Perkins
G/F C. McCaffery
F P. McCaffery
F Ke. Murray

Bench (in order of entering the game):
F Kr. Murray
G Ulis
C Mulvey or Ogundele
G/F Sandfort

If Bohannon comes back, he starts alongside Toussaint and pushes Perkins to the bench.
If Rebraca comes, he competes with the McCaffreys for playing time, with one of the three coming off the bench.

If JBo comes back, he should be playing the shooting guard position. Honestly, it would be fantastic if he decided to come back now with the CJF departure. We need a shooter. What we do not need is JBo at point guard.

I previously said that while I love everything JBo has done for Iowa, that it was time for him to move on. I am now rethinking my position.

I wonder if any of the decisions about leaving or staying that players (Nunge, Wieskamp, Fredrick, Bohannon, etc.) are making are interrelated, or if everyone is simply acting independently.

That’s a horrible basketball team

Should start:

JT
Ulis
Perkins
Keegan M
PMac

Good news with that lineup is that Iowa won't have to score 85 every night to win. The bad news is, I don't know if Iowa can score 65.

my lineup

F-EJ Onu 6'11" 240 Sr / Josh Ogundele 6'10" 275 So / Riley Mulvey 6'11" 240 Fr
F-Keegan Murray 6'9" 225 So / Kris Murray 6'9" 220 So
F-Patrick McCaffery 6'9" 210 So / Payton Sandfort 6'7" 215 Fr
G-Tony Perkins 6'4" 210 So / Ahron Ulis 6'3" 190 So
G-Joe Toussaint 6'0" 190 Jr / Connor McCaffery 6'5" 210 Sr

How long was it after he had hip surgery that Jordan tried to come back? If I remember right he played 8-10 games then shut it down. A similar situation happened with Naz Long at ISU. With that in mind, I would be surprised if Connor were able to play at the start of the season and last very long. I understand each situation is different, but needing that surgery on both hips doesn't bode well for him being healthy to start the season next fall.

You simply can’t have that team on the floor together. Teams would just dare Iowa to shoot threes and pack the box.

I think PMac and Keegan are going to be forced to shoot from outside this season. That was going to happen prior to CJF departure and now becomes even more likely.

Perkins shot 35% from 3-point as a senior. Ulis was at 40%.
They can shoot. I don't believe iowahawkeyes2020 ever watched a game to understand that if you don't play you don't have the opportunity to show that you can shoot.

Mine:

Joe T
Perkins (Joe W., if he returns...doubtful)
Pmac
Kris
Keegan

And, I'll add that I hope all five can shoot an average of 35% from three. If so, this team can defend, run, and shoot.

Who I think Fran will start:

Joe T (CMac, if Joe W returns)
CMac (Joe W. if he returns)
Pmac
Keegan
Josh O or Mulvey
