So does Nixon still count against last years.

Not that Iowa would take a full haul of 25 guys anyhow - but eligibility-wise, he wouldn't count towards our allotted 25. Similarly, supposing Iowa lands Honas - he'd count differently too. If I remember correctly, early enrollees can count differently too.

Maybe I didn’t understand what CM was asking, but he is in this class. At one time rivals did not list him as a commit for 2018, but that was changed, and is considering a 2018 recruit now. As far as the NCAA is concerned..who the f*** knows, but as ghost eluded to, since Iowa doesn’t sign classes of 34, it is a moot point.

Nah, you're all good Birky. Nixon is different from the rest of the guys who are set to sign come the 20th if for no other reason that he's already bound to Iowa from his signing last Feb. In terms of eligibilty, he'll also be different insofar that he'll have 4 years to play 3.

Yeah, I’m aware. Hence, the reason Bama technically couldn’t offer him. I just thought cm was asking about Nixon being a recruit for 2018 by rivals because of his bizarre situation.

Four to play three isn’t that wierd. Same as any other juco who qualified out of high school, and only played one year. The fact that he signed, qualified(late,) and still went juco is the weird part.

Absolutely. Also, a similar situation to how Shonn Greene, by these recruiting services, was considered both a class of '04 recruit AND a class of '05 recruit too. Of course, in his case, he went to a prep school ... so he was able to retain all of his eligibility. That's why Iowa encouraged Frank Darby to go to Milford a few years back when they were still a little concerned about his academics. We've had border-line academic guys who've ended up either having issues with the NCAA clearinghouse or our own admissions. Thus, it was "safer" just to have him go to a prep-school. Instead, he didn't want to wait ... so he ended up going to Arizona State instead.

This not a jab at Eno, or Frank, but how unlucky for them to end up at that $h1t show.

Ha!
I would call it karma for hiring Todd Graham. What a turd that guy is.

I also don't care much for the guy, but a little odd that he got fired based on performance alone. They were well above their performance threshold over the last 10-15 years so there had to be something about just the kind a guy he was. I think they'd actually even improved the graduation rate so he must've really been an ass.

Things seemed to be getting a little toxic. Probably a direct result of Graham being Graham.

Like you said, they haven’t been bad, but their expectations had been pretty high a couple of years ago, and those expectations have never been reached. As you know, it doesn’t matter how good or bad you are, just that you are close to meeting expectations. For example, everybody is jacking off on Matt Campbell right now, but if he goes 7-5 for the next 3 years, even ISU fans will be questioning him.

Cmon Birky, if Campbell goes 7-5 the next three years they should sign him to a lifetime contract. What more could they expect?

The athletic director wasn't the guy who hired him. He fired Graham to hire his former client Herm Edwards, a 63 year old who hasn't coached college in 30 years, to a below-market contract in order to structure the football program in a way that has never been done before.

So. Yeah.

Bizarre isn't it....

That is a weird situation. Herm Edwards is very likeable listening to him, hoping he does well at ASU. But bringing in a new head coach and trying to retain all of the assistants seemed doomed from the start.

I'll say this, Herm Edwards is a good guy. Don't know if he can still x and o, he's been out of the game for awhile.

I only know what the ESPN radio guys said when he was a candidate for the job - kids pay attention to him. He just has a personality that makes kids want to be around him. Based on that, I would guess he will recruit well and then I hope we get some more quality press conference fodder. The "Devils" thing was pretty funny already, but I know there's better stuff yet to be revealed as Herm does Herm things in front of microphones and cameras.
