you can’t always get what you want!
At the meat market some balogna and cheese...At the bakery, coffee cakes, sweet breads, cookies... all the stuff my cardiologist says not to eat......I pay for them and the gal gives me the receipt to sign and says..."Oh, your left-handed. That's very unusual."
I replied.."Really. I was born and raised in Pella as a Democrat, now that is unusual." The clerk responded in a whisper....."Well, I don't feel so bad. So am I!"
It's a groundswell boyz! Feel the Bern!! :)

Tell us more about the food. We have no interest in the garbage you were discussing.

I eat all that stuff...59 and never had a chest pain...work out at the health club 4 times a week. Have a problem with very occasional skipped beats and tachycardia but my doc says it is harmless and occurs more in healthy hearts than non healthy. Have you had a heart attack in the past?

Yes I have. Someday you'll wake up dead. You eat much balogna? God it is good.....and if the heart attack doesn't kill you the stomach/colon cancer will! But...the risk is worth every damn bite.

You ever fry your Oscar Meyer?

Herk...you have never eaten your balogna from a ring, have you? Oksar doesn't make balogna.......Int'Veld's does. If not Int'Velds, try Ulrich's. Never, ever eat Oksar....

No, I never have. Which is odd because I live food that's bad for me.

Well, be bad to yourself sometime and luv every friggin' bite! It's about $5/ring....eat it cold...fry it, warm it up...but don't forget to "skin it" before you eat it! The bakery stuff.....my wife has instructions for me...when she is on her death bed, my job is to buy as many almond coffee cakes as I can, warm them up for her and keep them coming until she passes! She'll butter her own.

Plus Dutch Letters, right?

Jake..I wish you a long and flavor-filled life!
Thanks my friend...and the same well wishes to you as well. My grandfather ate that stuff as well...country ham, eggs, biscuits and gravy, souse meat, chicken fried in lard...but his favorite was bologna cut off the log so to speak...lived to be 94...never had a chest pain...never had a heart procedure but like me had a lifetime of occasional heart arrhythmias.

Ulrich's back open?

Heard there was some drama and it closed.

It was mismanaged horribly and closed for several months...included this past TT. It re-opened a couple of months ago.....I guess the owner never paid his bills and was finally "cut off" by suppliers......A meat market on the square in Pella is like gold bullion at Ft. Knox.......What a fool. A lot of hard work and a lot of LONG hours but it is nothing but a money machine. You may not get filthy Wall Street rich...but you'll be damned comfortable....but then again, what do you expect of someone from K'ville?

Yeah. Don't know how you screw a business like that up.

I was told that the two meat markets and Jaarsma's cleared their annual overhead during tulip time alone.

Compared to what is available...overrated....My advice is to go to Pella over Tulip Time and buy the "almond bars" sold at the various church bazaar's.......a lot more product for your money.

OK, until then to get my sugar fix I'll continue to steal sugar packets off restaurant tables.

I'm sure they do....Today at Jaarsma's the line was outside the door onto the sidewalk...and only about 2/3 of the parking spaces on the square were filled.....It was a twenty minute wait in line to get to the counter....and now Jaarsma owns both bakery's.... It is good to be king.
