First off, cudos to our seniors tonight. They were outstanding. Joe T was outstanding also.

I am so impressed with our freshmen. They are quick, great basketball IQ, instincts are outstanding and their defensive intensity is impressive. Kris Murray showed he is going to be a player. We may be entering a new era of Iowa basketball. We currently have a very veteran team, but it’s hard not to be impressed with the future too.

They are players. Active on defense and look dang good for freshmen. Only thing missing is a knock down shooter. Keegan and Pat are pretty good from deep when on, but can be a bit streaky. Ulis and Perkins haven’t shown the outside shooting yet, mainly because they’ve been deferring to the older and better shooters.

Needless to say, there’s a bright future for them.

They look real good! Agreed they do need to find some 3pt shooting. Looks like we got some more of that coming in next year though! Get a good C grad transfer for next and we can be real good again next year.

It is an impressive group. I'm not too worried about shooters. I think PMac will become more consistent with experience, CJ if healthy is great, if Joe W returns the team is golden. If Joe W doesn't, the lone recruit for next year is apparently a good shooter and I trust Fran's judgement on shooters at this point. I'm curious about Ulis and the Murrays aren't shy from 3 so I gotta believe they have potential. Who knows who the other recruit or recruits will be, too.

It really bodes well for the future that Iowa can all but empty the bench with 9 minutes left and the lineup on the floor is both effective and completely different than the starting lineup. Iowa has the depth to play a lot of styles and match up with a lot of different configurations.

Sandfort is going to mix in really well with these guys as that knockdown shooter. We’ve seen both Perkins and Ulis hit down nice jumpers this year, and Ulis’ stroke at the free throw line seems to bode well for his future as a shooter. More encouragingly, Perkins/PatCaffery/Ulis/Toussaint’s abilities to get into the lane is going to bring about a dynamic that we haven’t seen at Iowa under Fran.

Was nice to see Kris getting his hands on some passes defensively, and that rebound/spin back to the hoop for the dunk was a great play as well. I don’t think we need to worry about much drop off between Keegan and him

Hopefully the sky won't fall if we somehow lose to Wisc. Should be a good time by the Hawks.
But next year will be tough without our three top scorers. I don't see too many of our new guards lighting it up from the outside. Hopefully we can find the touch???:)

Phuck Wisconsin,.. We're only losing two major scorers next year because Joe is coming back, and the young guards will bring strength to a part of the game that we aren't very familiar with,... Future looks bright!

Don't forget Nunge hopefully coming back and Conner

Freshmen and Sophomores. McCaffery and Toussaint

I love our future. It feels like something we haven't had in a long time. If I were to be concerned about anything it's that Joe T, Ulis, and Perkins are not natural shooters.

Just noticed Garza didn’t score any points from last 4 minutes of first half, while the rest of the team scored 59. Apparently we’re not just a one man team. Of course he effects the game so many ways but nice to know we aren’t completely dependent on his scoring.

I am also thrilled with the athletic ability and talent for next years team.....a couple points I will throw out for discussion as I have no real expertise.

1) My guess is that we will have a completely different team....by that I am specifically referring to the fact that with the length and athleticism we should do a couple of things differently. First, the best use of that skill set is to have a much higher level defense that can create offense. Second, is that we will get out in transition and be more effective in generating some scores there than we are now (we've seen Keegan do it a couple of times). This years team strength is offense.....next years team strength could/should be defense along with length and athleticism.

2) The main reason that this years team is so successful offensively is the combination of Garza inside and then MULTIPLE weapons on the outside....next years group will most likely not have anyone who replaces JBO from a 3 point shooting perspective. I expect CJ back and in full health....I have no idea on Joe W one way or the other. Not sure how anyone can say, one way or the other, with any certainty at this point...so, I don't believe next years team will be close to as good of a team as this year offensively......

3) Ulis, Perkins, Kris, Patrick, Joe T, and Keegan are all guys that I think can develop into good scoring options. That said, the off season conditioning and work are vital for that improvement. I think of Patrick and the Murray's with another 10 pounds of muscle and the confidence and quickness that comes with that and I get even more enthused for next year.

4) Recruits for next year.....PS and his outside shooting ability could have an immediate impact and fill a serious need for next years team. An additional post player and some serious off season work by Josh O are needed in order to have the depth in the post next year to compete in the B10.

I could do a lot more, but this is already long winded enough.
