"Kill commented on his raise and the current situation in the athletic department after Friday's practice. "It makes you a lot more relaxed where you can coach," Kill said. "We’ve had a lot of different situations that we’re going through right now, but I have complete confidence in our president." "The way this thing’s spun, you’re all going, ‘What’s going on next?" "It’s important they (recruits) know the head football coach is going to be here; otherwise we’re going to lose recruits. We had to call them (recruits) and do some things. This should help." "

Now, will he make KF money? No - $2.5M with $100k raises each year. He hasn't taken them to say an Orange Bowl yet either. They also won't be on the hook for 10+ years either. Noteworthy, his top 9 assistants will now be paid from a pool guaranteed to be top 6 in the B10.

They don't want to lose him...for quite a while it appears. So...I wonder what we Hawks fans think about this...given that it appears many of the same reasons Barta locked up Ferentz apparently played out in Gopherland too. This is a giant commitment from their athletic department as far as Minnesota historically is concerned.

Like KF he's done a good job turning around a program that was in bad shape when he took over. Smart for Minny to lock him down. Not sure how much his health will play any role in the future.

I know lot of KF haters will point to how much of a better coach he is but one thing to remember his best season has only been 8-5. Lot of gopher fans think this is year they can win the west. Have 2 real good CB. Main question is can Leidner step up after losing 2 best offensive weapons in Cobb and TE Maxx Williams.
