What disrespect to the Iowa fan base. They appeared to not really care.. Just skip the NCAA , we have been embarrassed enough.Yep. Pathetic
I don't think it was a lack of caring. I just don't think they dont have any legs left and are mentally fatigued. Nothing else can explain all the wide open 3s and offensive boards given up.
This coaching staff needs to do what the footbal staff did. Sit down and analyze every aspect of the basketball program and find the deficiencies. Then implement a countermeasure for each.
Almost every year, then this needs to be addressed as to what the problem is. Energy is completely gone come February.
Except last year when we won our last six regular season games, or two years before that when we closed strong and went to the NIT Final.
Illinois played Wed. and missing some starters. Iowa has lost it. Guard play in the last 15 sec was terrible. I can see why they were ranked 9th pre-season in the Big 10. Played down to that standard.I don't think it was a lack of caring. I just don't think they dont have any legs left and are mentally fatigued. Nothing else can explain all the wide open 3s and offensive boards given up.
It's pretty horrible right now.
Didn't Iowa lose to 12th seed Penn State in last year's BTT as well?
We are a total failure since the Maryland loss.I do not care any more. If the coaching staff and players don't.why should the fans. This coaching staff needs to do what the footbal staff did. Sit down and analyze every aspect of the basketball program and find the deficiencies. Then implement a countermeasure for each. Otherwise, Carver attendance may return to the Lickliter years if this sinking ship does not get righted.
The Big Ten tournament was in February last year?
The Big Ten tournament was in February last year?
I was just saying last year Iowa choked big time at the end of the season as well.
Pretty sure it was in March. But yeah they lost to the 12 seed PSU. They can't win in the BTT. They should just not show up next year. Just chalk it up as a L and save the $$.
Penn St was a #13 seed last year.
So, in the past two seasons, Iowa has been kind enough to give the BTT #12 and #13 seeds their first and only Thursday wins in BTT history.
Sure are nice guys.
Forgot to add that by losing to #11 the year before that, we gave the BTT #11 seed their only Thursday win in BTT history, other than the amazing run that Illinois had in '99, when they got to the finals.
Takeaway message: Iowa's last three BTT performances could possibly be the worst 3-year showing by an upper division team in any conference tournament in NCAA men's basketball history.
Except last year when we won our last six regular season games, or two years before that when we closed strong and went to the NIT Final.
