So Trump is a Fascist Eh?

Negotiating with the Taliban to get us out of Afghanistan for one thing. Talking to North Korea, the Trade war with China (we are winning BTW, and would have already won had the Democrats made Trump look weak with their BS made up attacks). Being more pro-business and gutting some of the non-competitive policies of the Obama Administration. Renegotiating NAFTA.
That sounds a lot like you.
Really???? Huh, I guess I took the time to go to that Buttigieg rally because I am such a closed minded asshole and I have nothing better to do the night of the Big Ten Championship game? Try again chump.

So many of these recent lists of "what fascism is", or "what fascism looks like", would never pass muster if you apply the test of scientific method to them. In fact someone took a list of what they do not like about Trump and reversed engineered this definition. Such bullshit.
More lies.

This list predates Trump by a huge margin.

But I do love how you inserted "scientific" into your lie. No doubt that misuse of the term fools people on your side.

The list was written in 2003.
It is not an accurate description or definition of what Fascism is.

Fascism is a government that believes that service to the State is paramount, rather than the State serving the individual.

Are you referencing the peace agreement that was signed by the Taliban which Trump proceeded to tear up and say the deal is dead?

Point by point...

1. Negotiating with the Taliban to get us out of Afghanistan for one thing.

Obama did that. Bush didn't (as far as we know). Nothing new here. And no more successful than his predecessors. Plus, he screwed it up.

2. Talking to North Korea,

I'll give Trump a couple of points for this. But let's remember, his recklessness and craziness almost caused a shooting war with NK. Averted because Kim Jong-Un was the adult in the transaction. And, just like point #1, we have nothing to show for it.

3. the Trade war with China (we are winning BTW, and would have already won had the Democrats made Trump look weak with their BS made up attacks).

Total disaster. And not because of anything the Dems have done. It is helping Big Ag buy out the small farmers that he's hurt, though. Something you and the Rs apparently like.

4. Being more pro-business and gutting some of the non-competitive policies of the Obama Administration.

More disaster. Accelerating climate change. Reducing protections for air, water and food. Damaging our national parks.

5. Renegotiating NAFTA.

Something the left has been calling for for decades. And he did a bad job of renegotiating it.

Google "characteristis of fascism" and be prepared to tick off a bunch of check boxes.

Here's one list among many similar lists. The GOP and Trump exemplify some, and are working on most of the rest.

  1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

  2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

  3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

  4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

  5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

  6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

  7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

  8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

  9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

  10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

  11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

  12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

  13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

  14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

The problem with lists like that is those are all general characteristics that could apply to many people.

It's like reading horoscopes and saying, "Wow, that's so me."

3. the Trade war with China (we are winning BTW, and would have already won had the Democrats made Trump look weak with their BS made up attacks).

Total disaster. And not because of anything the Dems have done. It is helping Big Ag buy out the small farmers that he's hurt, though. Something you and the Rs apparently like.
Ag is a mess for multiple reasons and farmers know it. 1)China slaughtered their hog herd due to ASV so they do not need soybeans. What they will be needing in massive quantities is MEAT. So stock your freezer. 2)Vast swaths of land is being cleared in parts of Africa, like Kenya and also Russia. This trend has been going on for a decade, at least. Much of this land has never been put to the plow, so less fertilizer is needed. Farmers are competing with more world capacity.

4. Being more pro-business and gutting some of the non-competitive policies of the Obama Administration.

More disaster. Accelerating climate change. Reducing protections for air, water and food. Damaging our national parks. Back away from the edge.

5. Renegotiating NAFTA.

Something the left has been calling for for decades. And he did a bad job of renegotiating it.
Monday Morning Quarterbacking. Pelosi is sitting on it to keep Trump from getting a win.

The Trump Hatred comes down to one thing. Socialists were convinced that they had finally won and were going to open up the gravy train, and an anti-socialist won the presidency. So he must be a fascist, right?

That was after being snubbed in 2009 and jamming through Obama Care with ZERO bipartisan support and input. So today, the reason you have $6,000 max out of pocket and high co-pays is a result of Obama Care. Rx prices out of control? Well, Obama sold his soul to the drug companies, which is what makes all these old formularies so valuable, and why predatory companies are jumping at the chance to buy old drugs and jack the price. This shit rests right on Obama. Maybe someone would have pointed this shit out if Obama was not such an arrogant closed-minded prick.
Wrong.

I think the Trump hatred goes well beyond that.

And Hillary Clinton is not a socialist, so I have no clue WTF you're talking about.

Strong authoritarian and nationalism views Trump definitely has. But he is not persecuting minorities or invading other countries.

You're giving Trump too much credit. Trump cares about Trump and everything else plays second fiddle to that. He is not an ideologue beyond self-aggrandizement and pandering to rednecks.

Is he a national embarrassment? Of course. A fascist? Pffff, not hardly.

This. Trump is a selfish, racist, corrupt buffoon who is adored by fascists because high profile white supremacists in his administration (like Stephen Miller) know they can manipulate him to do their agenda. His multiple times openly talking about multiple terms confirms he has, at its worst, the power hunger of an authoritarian dictator.

By taking it on do you mean increasing defense spending?
Once you rebuild the depleted military ((as in people coming back from Afganistan were sending rifles directly to those going, without depot (rebuild), Hummers and Bradleys are falling apart)). Then you can look at getting us out of wars that are costing us a Trillion dollars over 20 years with nothing to show for it.

Really? Like the Clinton's who tried to have a husband/wife dynasty in the White House? .

How many white kids in cages?

Muslim ban?

Attacks on women of color in Congress?

Support for racist candidates?

Venezuela?

Bolivia?

To be fair, Trump attacks anyone in Congress or anywhere else when they say things about him he doesn’t like. To pick out women of color in Congress is being intellectually dishonest

And if that's where the narrative ended, you'd have a point.

But Donald Trump has attacked numerous people, many of whom are white.

Again, you're giving Trump too much credit.

I don’t think people know what a fascist is just like everyone throws the word socialist around without knowing what it means as well. Trump is in fact a fascist and anyone who thinks otherwise look up the definition and if you have been paying attention that is exactly who he is.

Just because he isn’t a dictator killing people doesn’t mean he isn’t a fascist, he is. Edit= and you actually could argue his racist views have killed people

Yeah he’s a wannabe fascist. All of his best foreign friends are dictators. We have the 2020 election to stop him.

From Websters Dictionary:

a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
I see none of this coming out of Trump.
