So, was Stanley interviewed post-game?

Probably. Not sure what that has to do with Stanley preforming close to adequate though.

Wanna see me throw a football over them mountains?
Typical fan whom has never played a down. Always wants the backup who can perform adequately. Lol!!! There is a reason they are called the backup. You might not be capable of understanding that.

Guessing you know a lot about that. All you do is attack these kids. You've attacked a lot of them. That makes you feel how? Superior? Don't understand how grown men, probably a parent, do this.
And that's not 'all I do'. I talk about all kinds of things on this site. I started 4 threads today and not one of them were about 'attacking' anything.

Did he offer any explanation for the worst game of his career?

Good lord, he was terrible today. Consistently throwing poorly, terrible decisions, just plain God awful.
That’s ok. He is still the 3rd best about in the draft per Mcshay.

I see you're new. So you're first part is wrong about me. Hint: i was the guy defending Ruddock and Vanderburg to the end.

And your line about the backups is more true at the professional level than the college one. In the college game, and I would hope you know this, your backups are your starters with two years.

Finally, what does playing having to do with anything? I'm never set foot on a TV lot, but I know what makes a good show. You don't have to play or be an expert to be able to say whether something was good or bad.

I see you’re old. So it is wrong for me to not repesct my elders. Hint: don’t bash college kids for underperforming. As I quote, “he should be benched.” As you sit in front of a tv with your whistle and clipboard
Their job is not to entertain. Their job is to get a degree to be a productive human being in society.

I watched the game while posting here, I don't own a whistle.
I'll bash college kids when they underperform because they deserve it for underpreforming.
If their job is to get a degree please leave the football team. Their job is to play well, to get a degree and be productive members of society. Stop excusing bad play with pseudo-feel good crap.Your on the football team, I expect you to try to be good at that too.

Most of these athletes did not come to college to play school

So I guess you’re saying Rudock and Vandenberg were better than Stanley. I could not disagree more.

But you own a clipboard. Congratulations!
You must feel proud to bash a college kid behind a screen.
I never excused how they played. They will owe that one. They want to win way more than you do from your lazy boy chair with your clipboard.

Isn't that precious...

LOL. You need to jump off the ledge. :) We don't need metaphors, we need to know when a QB can't get it done and put in the next guy (who at least could run) like every other program from youth football to the NFL. The guy was like 4 for 21 at one point and couldn't hit the most wide open receiver in the history of the Iowa football program. This isn't baseball, the guy can re-enter if the reliever isn't getting it done. HE WAS NOT OUR BEST OPTION AND WASN'T LAST WEEK AND MANY OTHER GAMES. We could have won last week with out punter at QB.

God help me, this is twice this week I agree with you. And BTW, Hooker wasn't very special yesterday if I am being honest.
Staying with the starting QB to the point of incredulity has been a theme of KF's tenure. See 2012: the worst offensive team other than 1999 that I can remember and JVB took EVERY snap for the season.
I am not going to rip on Stanley. He has done some great things the past two years. He has also had games where it wae clear he was unable to perform. Yesterday was one of them. There is NO excuse for a football program with Iowa's resources to NOT have more than one QB capable of playing. Hell, we were all doing backflips of joy when Petras committed last Dec. Numerous other teams have backup QBs playing and succeeding every week. Hell, ISU is on their fifth QB since the beginning of the 17 season. I just threw up in my mouth having to use them to point out a deficiency in Iowa's program, BTW. So what were they saying by leaving Stanley in the entire game? That it would be detrimental to his confidence or his ability to lead the team going forward? Kirk has shown no hesitation in yanking a RB who fumbles. Did that destroy their ability to grow and improve? Wadley turned his career around pretty nicely. Were they saying that neither Mansell nor Petras could perform at any acceptable level? If that is the case, they shouldn't be on scholarship on a P5 roster.
This is totally on the coaches. It is very similar to Don Zimmer with Andre Dawson in the 89 playoffs. The entire world knew Dawson couldn't lay off anything low and outside but Zimmer kept him in the lineup the entire series because of what he had done for the team and in hope that the Giants' pitchers would make mistakes pitching to him. It didn't happen because it was too easy to pitch to him. Did it make Dawson feel better knowing his manager left him in when he couldn't perform? Did it make CJB feel better that KF left him in against Florida when he couldn't move and the game was lost so he could get the shit beaten out of him?

Stanley is about as mobile and articulate as Frankenstein’s monster. The stubbornness of Ferentz yesterday was pathetic, but predictable.

Incorrect. Their job is to perform. Their compensation for their job is a free education and numerous other benefits worth somewhere between 50 and 100 K per year. If they weren't deemed to be able to perform, they would be paying back student loans for the education they are receiving. Additionally, they are adults, not children. Any one of them is eligible for military service and have peers putting their lives in jeopardy in horrible places daily.
As I said before, I am not ripping on Stanley. He couldn't perform yesterday. His staying in the game is on the coaches. But it is absurd to say it is off limits to criticize adults playing professional sports.

Guys step away from the ledge. Backup QB is always the favorite player on any team Stanley had a bad game but he is still by far our best option.
Well actually I don't think most knowledgeable fans are calling for Mansell, other than for the belief that "if we pull our QB that might motivate him to play better"..........It won't at Iowa. Never has. Never will. And I know that, for those of you that are going to ask, and no you all won't get a "how" for the simple fact that you bothered to ask that in the first place.....and you will deal with it.

But back to the point, I think most are with you in understanding that Stanley is still our best option.

No he won’t.
Statistically he will be.

But until it actually happens, we have to assume that he isn't going to QB Iowa to any meaningful victories as far as competing for championships go.

The OSU game was great, but just like the Michigan game in 2016, it was won by an underachieving team that pulled an upset for one singular signature win on the season.

Iowa isn't gonna get that this year unless we play in a good bowl game and win.

Stats can be inflated with a couple big games against bad defensive teams. Stanley is a slightly better than average qb, imo. Simply not mobile enough .

Why do you all protect Stanley all the time. Why do you think career 50% completion is so great? Especially with the wide open throws Brian gets him. Mix in some 60% completion with 4 YDs and then 30% completion deer in the headlight, missing wide open easy TDs games like Wisky , Mich St, PSU...and you’ve got Nate Stanley.

Ivory Kelly-Martin got benched for under performing today, he turned the ball over and his play didn’t put Iowa in the best position to win...

It’s comical when people throw out opinions- only to be proven wrong.

Jock sniffer extraordinaire. Losers like you were joked about by C Fry in our team meetings- in good times and after tough games.

I don't even know what this means a jock sniffer is someone that points out when the goddamn QB can't hit a "middle school pass" if his life depended on it?

And I'm glad I'm the loser you guys joked about in the team meeting. Maybe next time pay less attention to me and more on the task at hand and you might win a few more games.

We won plenty, and the point was to not pay attention to losers like you.

And you're clearly not capable of understanding how to use whom correctly.

I'm a fan too, didn't say I wasn't disappointed. I'm watching #6 Texas right now. Pretty sure PSU or Iowa beats that #6 team because they are also average. #15 Wahington is average. #22 NC State is average. #24 Stanford is average. Go Hawks, win the West.
Who knows who Iowa beats. We are extremely inconsistent

Dude, your last sentence is ridiculous.

I guess so. But, it is cool they talked about me in the film room instead of watching the film to figure out how to throw "middle school passes"

I think you're taking it too personally.

There is a lot of fan criticism that is usually off base and almost always hysterical, and usually uttered from the same people who like to thump their chests over other people's accomplishments. That's what they're making fun of.

Nate Stanley sucked yesterday. There isn't much debate about that. I thought he should have been pulled for his mental health. Whether Mansell would have made a difference in the outcome is irrelevant.
