In the next ten days? Is it possible to improve anything before Nationals? I'll leave it to you experts on this board. Is it strictly mental toughness? Can the guys be coached for specific opponents? Can weaknesses be corrected in that short time? I don't have any inside contacts and would like to know how you prepare for the Big Show.

I don't think you make any profound improvements, certainly from a technical standpoint. I think you get healthy and try to stay at as close to your peak condition physically and mentally as you can. There may be some situational drills that could help guys like Sammy Brooks, but I think most of the ground work is laid out. We're going to need everyone to contribute. Guys are going to take some losses, but if everyone can string together some wins we should win it. Its going to be a three horse race between Iowa, Missouri and tOSU. Minnie, PSU and Okie St all lost too many qualifiers to be a factor. Obviously some Mizzou and tOSU upsets would help, but they both have some top tier talent that will likely show up. We need their middle of the road guys to lay eggs. We need Mizzou guys like Synon, Lavallee, Eblen, and Mellon to shit the bed and tOSU guys like JDJ, H Steibler (if he's even healthy) Demas, Martin and Courts. If they get those kind of guys on the podium, we'll be in trouble.

When you lose a half dozen matches by one point all you have to do is complete that one take down instead of letting it go. I know we'd like to see us win all these, we do get quite a few but we don't remember the wins only the real tough losses...

We work on fine tuning..but most importantly for several guys-- we work on healing,

Be more aware of the time situation. Gilman was taken down a couple times with very little time left on the clock. Sammy was taken down with about 5 seconds left in the third period and Clark was 7 seconds away from a riding time point which could have made a big difference in his match with Dardanes. I'm not saying you should spend your time staring at the clock. It looked to me yesterday like Evans was favoring his right hand. I really believe the Hawks will be alright. My opinion is this, Gilman, Clark, Sorenson, and Telford, can beat anyone in their weight class. All I know is that it's going to be fun in StLouis and "GO HAWKS".

They will have two weeks to heal. They will have two weeks of situational drilling and individual work on techniques against certain wrestlers (think Clark v. Dardanes; Sorenson v. Houdashelt/Tsirtsis). They will have two weeks to hear/figure out that they were Big Ten Co-Champions despite leaving a LOT of points on the mat. Some of them will realize that they have a chance at redeeming themselves for a very flat start to the Big Ten tournament. Some of them will hear that results at the Big Ten tournament do not automatically translate into success at the NCAA tournament.
