Just play 11 this year?

(Not talking about field conditions, rather that onslaught of thunderstorms being forecasted)

I thought it was going to be good in the afternoon... I imagine they postpone until the storms are over and and only cancel if it thunderstorms through the night... shoot they cleared the stadium back in 2011 and brought everyone back in to finish the game after the storm passed

Hope they have pumps at the ready based on what we saw a couple days ago. Wait out any lightning. Maybe it will end up finishing under the lights.

According to Vegas as of noon today (Friday), the weather odds for Saturday in Iowa City are the following: Partly sunny, 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms with a high of 83. Here's the link: http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/weather/

Woke up in NE Iowa today with dark gray clouds and rain appearing imminent. Nothing happened, and now it's mostly clear and breezy. So my suggestion: Keep calm and carry a raincoat. That way, you'll almost certainly never need it. ;)

Or a different question ... rain will favor which team more?

I've heard conventional wisdom say two different things ....

... I've heard folks say that adverse weather conditions tend to favor the better offense.
... I've also heard folks say that adverse weather (particularly relating to rain) tends to favor the team that is better at running the ball.

Anybody have views on the matter?

If it gets cancelled completely probably 11 games this year as the 2 schools off weeks don't match up . That said they're going to try to do everything to get this one in. I've heard forecasts all over the map for this one so I'm not going to be that concerned until I see the lightning.

If it was a college baseball game, they would move up the start time, but not as easy to do for a football game with 67K attending.

There are lots of those:
1. Slows down pass rush. Rushers need good footing to get past blockers, and blockers just have to stand there, more or less.
2. Favors receivers. They know where they are going whereas cover people have to then react.
If you work on it long enough, you can figure out how it favors or hinders nearly every position.
Chuck Long was great in the rain; see the Freedom Bowl. Chuck Long was horrendous in the rain; see the Ohio State game.

I was at the Deluge known as the Pittsburgh Game and that one was a BLAST lol. Especially the beautiful cascading waterfalls on the steps LOL
