Now in MN

After last night, the Big Ten now has 4 of the top 13 in the BPI. Iowa is still #3 but one watch out is that the Hawks are 4-4 against the top 58 with 9 more to play in the regular season. I cut it at 58 to include MSU, MD and PSU.

All of a sudden, we've slid a bit but can quickly get back on track with some wins this week. It's a shame that we only have Illinois once and Michigan once both on the road. It's highly likely that Iowa will go 0-3 against the top 3 opponents ( Gonzaga Neutral, @ ILL and @ Mich) with no chance of home court redemption. Iowa will need to get on track over the next 5 weeks to remain in the top 8 spots. Lots of great opportunities to build the resume and it's critical to focus game by game and not worry about the BT standing. With the lack of scheduling equity, the regular season crown is a bit of a beauty contest anymore.

This is by no means a rant of negativity but rather the reality that with such a strong league and an unbalanced schedule, that the Hawks could become more of a 3 or 4 seed. Some people will freak out about that but it really doesn't matter that much as it's all about match-ups and I think Iowa will be so relieved to be done with BT play come NCAA time....

The next 2 months should be truly exciting and some of the best heated Iowa basketball action in the last 30+ years.
