Yes, we all know Nick Saban "loves a losing year."
Is Utah toast in the Pac 12?
Are USC and Oregon going to jump back into the national scene, after Iowa smashed USC in 2019 and Oregon fell to Iowa State in 2020?
The Ducks beat Ohio State in Columbus last season, but also lost in OT at Stanford (3-9), then back to back games vs. Utah and a coach in transition Oklahoma. Of course, Oregon didn't have a coach either.
USC is coming off a 4-8 season and no one expects them to lose another game at Stanford, after the ugly 42-28 home loss in 2021.
Will Oklahoma survive a Week 3 game at Nebraska?
New staff in transition there. Baylor and Oklahoma State finished ahead of the Sooners. And, Iowa State never got to finish line in quest for back to back New Year's Six Bowls.
Does Ohio State finally have a championship defense, after the hire of Okie State's DC Jim Knowles?
Cincinnati at Arkansas in Week 1?
Are either of these teams ready for prime-time in 2022?
No one from the AAC will likely finish better than 11-2 ahead of CFP selection time.
In the ACC, Clemson, North Carolina State and Wake Forest would be the reverse of 2021. Miami-FL has never won the ACC, so why now?
One coach had this to say about Clemson, "this is the start of the next era for them, and it's possible they're not a national title winner anymore."
Is anyone going to lose less than 3 games in Big 12 in 2022?
The Big Ten will likely beat up on themselves in 2022?
No one, even Ohio State, will likely get through the season without a loss, or beyond the Buckeyes, more than one!
C-USA has 11 programs today, will more than three reach a better than .500 record? Four did it in 2021. UAB is apparently now at the point to compete for a title every year. Interesting to see, their second to last final game of the regular season is at LSU, their lone P5. 🤔
We have Army, BYU, Notre Dame, UConn, Liberty, New Mexico State and UMass all playing as Independents in 2022. BYU and Notre Dame both lost their bowl games in 2021. Thankfully, BYU is in last season as an Indy. Too bad Notre Dame hasn't joined a conference. It was nice to see them play in one in 2020.
The MAC is a fun conference, with many B1G teams playing a team in the non-conference, but other than PJ Fleck's final season, they often fall short nationally. Northern Illinois seeks to repeat, as former Iowa prep QB Rocky Lombardi looks to lead them.
Mountain West saw Utah State beat San Diego State last year. But, Boise State and Fresno State are looking to reach the championship in 2022.
Bulldogs missed at Oregon last year in one possession loss. They host Oregon State in Week 2 and at USC the following week. Ironically, Boise State opens at Oregon State.
Utah nearly upended Ohio State in 2022 Rose Bowl, only to lose it in the 4th quarter after their starting QB went down.
On coach shared, "This is the best program in the Pac 12. I don't think you'll find anyone who would name another team. They could beat Florida to open the season and help the league out tremendously."
This 2022 season, one more year away from the tragically disrupted 2020 season, should be quite interesting.
And, the best for last, well, there is the Sun Belt.
The SEC has Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M and they each could be argued as the three of the Top 5 programs in the land.
Last year, Alabama beat Georgia for the SEC title. Then, Georgia took Alabama down for the National Title 🏆
All seven SEC West teams could all bowl again. Auburn and LSU each finished 6-7 after bowl losses to Houston and Kansas State, respectively.
Rumors of a new All-SEC national title game after Oklahoma and Texas join. Oh, for the love of the south!
Sun Belt saw Louisiana roll to a 13-1 season, after a 38-18 loss at Texas. This year, the lone P5 game is the second to final regular season game at Flordia State. Do they repeat?
Well, Appalachian State hopes to say otherwise. The Mountaineers open hosting UNC, then off to Texas A&M.
It should be another great year of College Football.
With all the coaching moves this off season add to the crazyness of the upcoming season?
The 2021 season saw a roller coaster of movement in the Top 25. I think we can witness similar in 2022, as NIL and The Portal have certainly raised the the level of uncertainty across the College Football landscape.
- Texas A&M over Alabama in Tuscaloosa no less?
- A&M did beat the Crimson Tide in '21 by score of 41-38
- Georgia won the national title 🏆 33-18
- Is pass blocking a concern for the Crimson Tide in 2022?

- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Utah - at Florida and San Diego State in non-con, which proved too tough in 2021
