Why is this? The baseball tournament this year would be incredible. Someone needs to ask the conference tough questions on their thought process.

NCAA games can have fans including thousands at basketball tournaments, but no in-person recruiting for 15 months for D1 and no fans at outdoor cross country championships is a bigger issue.

Good question for which there isn't a great answer. If teams are allowed to compete during the regular season, but you can't bring them together for a tournament? Can't the teams just be separated except for the games? What am I missing?

Baseball cannot have one. But the Big Ten does allow one in Men's Basketball.

And Women's Basketball.
And Men's Soccer.
And Women's Soccer.
And Men's Hockey.
And Wrestling.
And Men's Lacrosse.
And Women's Lacrosse.
And Men's Tennis
And Women's Tennis.
And Field Hockey.
And Men's Gymnastics.

The unfortunate thing is that I think this year would be pretty electric for baseball too.

Does it allow a softball tournament? If not, then we are even.

Kevin Warren is an idiot for not allowing outdoor tournaments for track, baseball, and softball. Dude needs to be fired.

He is at the volleyball semifinal tonight, which happens to be in Omaha and indoors. You just can’t make this stuff up.

The decisions that have been made from the time they canceled the B1G football season to today have been just awful.

Can you imagine how crazy and exciting a B1G baseball tournament would be this year?

Big 10 baseball has really been screwed. we will see how much zero non-conference games cost them in getting teams into the NCAA tournament. Games against some good non-conference opponents would really help Big 10 teams. And no Big 10 tournament makes no sense either. They are safe to play 44 games against each other, but not safe to play a tournament? Outside?

As it stands today, the conference tournament would be...

1. Indiana vs 8. Illinois
4. Iowa vs 5. Maryland

2. Nebraska vs 7. Rutgers
3. Michigan vs 6. Ohio State

It’s as deep of a conference as I remember since maybe 2015.

The conference tournament allows for that bubble team or two to play themselves in or out. Allows for a great time for teams and fans. Kind of gives teams a quick run of regional play with that double elimination setup.

My two thoughts are either the conference didn’t want to pay the cost for Omaha due to Covid or they don’t care about baseball. Maybe both?

I thought the tournament was cancelled this year to make room to finish the regular season on their weekend schedule. I don't think it had to do with bringing teams together or stadium capacity. Had they played the tournament at normal time we would have lost the last two conference series.

Baseball conference tournament was always the Wed-Sun before Memorial Day. So it would literally impact one series. Also, the series before would always be a Thu-Sat. Also, remember the conference started the season a few weeks later than the official start date.

With no non con schedule. B1G leadership is just plain bad in how they managed all sports during this covid pandemic. You really have to question the lack of insight and leadership by the people that manage the conference. It is evident Kevin Warren is not a leader and outside the box thinker, other than to shut everything down when other conferences were talking about ways to get the sports played, one way, or another. Jim Delaney has got to be shaking his head and saying WTF?!!!!
