Say what you want about the guy when he was on guy was a pretty good qb as we saw in the Iowa game. However he was also a head case and had that gun slinger mentality that saw him make mistakes and implode like the Texas game. Personally him leaving I think will benefit Iowa next year cause I don't think the freshman who played vs Baylor will be any better than him come next season.

ISU was better without him. But it is interesting he is transferring because he can only transfer to an FCS school or if he is graduating he can be a graduate transfer. He is a redshirt Junior . I wouldn't be surprised if the doesn't play football again.

The freshman who played vs Baylor when their current starter Kempf was hurt for a game didn't look good at all. I think Park would be a better option at QB and would probably start over him if he had stayed at ISU next year.

So how does that benefit Iowa?

Okay that's pretty good!

His next stop will be his fifth school. So I think at some point in life Park will need to realize you have to take ownership of your actions and you can't just "leave" every time the going gets tough. Not my intent to knock on a college kid ... just saying at some point he needs to stick with it.

He was a major talent with quite a few issues. It's why he ended up at ISU in the first place. Campbell took a chance on the talent and Park did have some very good games. But with the way the ISU team actually played better once he was removed, that says a lot.

I don’t know if I agree with him on his assessment of the Freshman. He seems like a good player.

Clearly he is suggesting that by Park not being there, they will have a less talented player at QB when they come to Iowa City next year. I think anyone would agree that increases Iowa’s chances of winning (again, only if you feel Park is a better option,) and winning the game benefits Iowa.

Well when we play them they will have a player at the most important position in the game next year who isn't as talented as Park is and will be inexperienced making his 3rd career start. Plus the guy who is leaving would have been a 5th year senior who just light Iowa up in this years game. You understand yet why I think it will benefit Iowa in the game next season?

Clear as mud.

I said it multiple times on here, but it's become obvious that Park is a head case. Look at how many programs he has been a part of and always has some excuse/reason why he leaves. At some point it's not the schools, their fans, coaches, etc... it's the player. I wouldn't want park near my campus or team if I was a college head coach.

he has been a part of 2 programs.

Kempt is trying to get a 6th year. Not sure the odds, but read that he's at least trying. And I agree with those that say they were WAY better with Kempt under center.

Even in their season for the ages, ISU fans spend an entire offseason bragging about their awesome QB, only to see him benched halfway through the season, followed by a transfer.

It will be fun to see them talk up someone else for 9 months, then watch him flame out next year.

Even when they get better, some things never change.

I'm no Park apologist. I think the young man is fighting some demons. Just hope for his families sake he tames those demons and goes on to find success in life. A lot of us were head cases in our early twenties.

And maybe football just really isn't for him. Sometimes people have a talent for something but that isn't what they really would like to do. Or maybe it is like he said, he was just overwhelmed. I know I don't think I could handle school, being a new parent and football all at the same time.

The new parent angle shouldn't be underestimated. I stopped giving a shit about a lot of things when I was preparing for parenthood. If I were in that situation and wasn't confident that the NFL was an option for me in the future, I could certainly see myself shifting my focus away from football.

Reading the register found this comment interesting by Park. Took a nice little parting shot at the fans on his way out. Of course the defender of all things ISU related, Randy Peterson, had to write a scathing critique of Park and throwing him under the bus ironically after he criticized him for doing the same to ISU fans. Funniest part of this whole ordeal is somehow Park was one of the team captains this year.

But here's what Park had to say to the Register on Monday night:

“Everybody says these fans are so loyal, right? Like, they were the first ones to turn on me.

"I got to witness this from a whole other perspective that most of you never get to witness.”
