I've been seeing a lot of disappointment on this board about BS and his performance since their last match. He's winning, but his opponents should be getting the tar kicked out of them by BS, but it's just not happening. He's starting to remind me of DSJ, not a guy that will give you bonus points, but will get you wins, which, I want to make clear, I'M NOT COMPLAINING, I'm simply starting a conversation regarding where BS is at in his young career. Taking 4th in his first year is awesome, hoping for improvement, and obviously some titles. But, I'm pondering this question: Could it be that since BS seems to have figured out Tshirt and how to beat him is that he's adapted into Tshirt's style of wrestling?

Could be off base, just something that I've been thinking about, and watch tomorrow where BS comes out and pins Sueflohn, and everyone tells me to join the Indiana board....

Hope all are enjoying the weather, as the East Coast and South are being covered by the same stuff that I've been dealing with for the past couple months. Wusses........

Out of his 18 matches, he has bonused in ten of them. The one's he hasn't (think Collica, TShirt, Theobold, Sueflohn) were pretty tough. Th only issue I have is with the last two guys. Brandon isn't following his formula of two TD's and ride out in the first. A couple of more TD's and some tough riding for the guy to break in the third or for Brandon to go on for the easy win. We could chalk it up to post holiday cuts, or whatever but I'd rather see a few matches like this now instead of seeing him fade somewhat at B1G. Not an outlandish post but I still think the match today will be close.

I'm not concerned about Brandon. The Purdue kid was doing all he could to avoid bonus points. I thought he deserved more stalling calls than he got. In neutral, Brandon's opponent pretty much just tied up and backed away. I would have liked to have seen more takedowns, but it can be challenging to rack them up when your opponent isn't "presenting himself", as Jim Gibbons likes to say. Brandon's not a big pinner from the top position, so most of his scoring is going to come from his feet. In a match like this, that can be challenging.

I see Brandon scoring bonus points in the first couple of rounds at Nationals. The key for him and the team, though, will be to make it to Saturday night. PSU is looking great, but if we can get Gilman, Clark, Sorensen, and Burak to Saturday night, and if nobody else implodes, we'll have a shot at this thing. Bonus points are always important, but Brandon's a guy who can be counted on to advance. First things first. He may not be flashy, but he's as rock-solid as they come. Gotta like that.

Oh yes, I'm definitely liking the improvement, I just was seeing some disappointment from his past 2 performances. I firmly believe that he will be there, Saturday night, facing down Reatherford.

I agree that taking them now against low level talent, and not giving that effort against the big dogs is preferred.

I understand where the OP is coming from but I wouldn't worry just yet. The positive is that the close matches really haven't been in doubt and he hasn't been in real trouble. Today will be a good opportunity for him to solidify his spot by beating Sue one more time. It's hard to dominate every opponent like Gilman has. Some guys do a really good job of not wrestling the top level guys

I suggest going back and judging him by his full season instead of cherry picking 2 matches.

I think your post was an insult to Brandon. The guy has been great for us and has scored bonus points in a majority of his matches. Complain about 57, 65, 41, or even 74 if you really feel the need.

don't think he was complaining, more commenting on others complaining and trying to start conversation. I would take two titles and no bonus points from Brandon, I know we need bonus for the team title, but hes not really the take down let them up and repeat kind of wrestler. Brandon is good on top, but against better competition it gets harder to get a turn for back points.let alone when guys are wrestling to only lose close against him.

His match against Wisconsin was an "odd" one I thought, but I wondered if he might not be feeling well or something. He didn't seem to have much "want to" in that match, which happens (just not to Gilman for a while! Ha!).

Anyway, I think anyone writing off a healthy Jason Tsirtsis in these 149 conversations do so at their own risk (assuming Tsirtsis gets healthy by years end). He'll be a tough out for anyone, when he's on his game, it's tough to get your hand raised against him.

Coach Brands has publicly stated he views Brandon Sorensen much like I do, he's got more to give offensively, and all the ability and toughness in the world to make that happen. I've stated many times that I believe Brandon Sorensen is the best wrestler we have, since the 1st day he stepped on the mat. I still believe that, largely because we don't have any Metcalf's or Brand's on the team currently. He's methodical, and tougher than wang leather. Pretty good combo, but that methodical approach may limit his ceiling. He seems to me to be unwilling to open up his offense, for fear it will be detrimental to his defense, which he appears to take great pride in.

He's having an outstanding year, so I do think there has been progress made, and hopefully more to come. I can honestly picture him mauling people from his feet on a regular basis. I just wonder if his fear of giving up a takedown once in a while keeps him from doing just that. Might be wrong, but that's kind of how I see it.

Brandon has excellent defense. Hardly ever gives up a TD. Perhaps those last few guys he has been wrestling have been more defensive in their skill set and just hard to takedown very often.

Seriously??!!! An insult??! I freakin' said that I wasn't complaining, ya Jackwagon. How would it be an insult to say that his style mimics Tshirt, someone who is still a NC contender. Honestly, I've seen other posts from you where you like to stir the pot, and I think AZ said it best already

Maybe the part where you said I'M NOT COMPLAINING, really meant you were complaining? LOL!
