what's the deal with Rick Mount and his animosity toward Purdue? I have to admit I got tired of the love fest the announcers were exhibiting for Mount, but found it intriguing how they kept referring to this being his first appearance at a Purdue game in 30 years or so.

I would like to know as well......

I found this article. It seems like it's not a very public/more personal thing as he stays pretty ambiguous

Pretty informative, I think. I notice the July 30th date on the article and the prediction that Mount would turn Purdue down. I notice the comment, "You're pretty famous around here." And I think, wonder, did Mount say yes just because this writer thought he'd say no?

Why do I get the feeling Mount could be the third brother in the movie, "Secondhand Lions"? Contrary and (just how does one spell awnery?) I know, Rick Mount.

Mean-spirited, disagreeable, and contrary in disposition; cantankerous.

His son, Ritchie, went to Purdue in the late 80's, early 90's and wasn't good enough to play BT ball. Ritchie got some run when someone got hurt but when the injured player returned that was it for jr. though it sounds like he wasn't good enough to play anyway.

From what I understand this is the main reason for the consternation with Mount and Purdue.

On the surface, that strikes me as being fairly petty. But, there could be even more to the story. That time frame would put it during Gene Keady's tenure. Maybe there was something personal between them beyond his son's playing time.

I wonder if that was his son that brought the microphone out to him with the gold chains looking like night club bouncer?

I was wondering the same thing last night. This article confirms what mstp1992 just said

Really that article sums up what I said. My buddy who got me the ticket for last night was a tutor to PU players in the late 80's so he knew the ins and outs of the program.

And yes, that was Richie sporting the sweet gold chains last night. A typical Indiana middle age man, assuming he is missing a few teeth.

Funny stuff. I wondered who that guy was...I figured he must be part of the B1G film crew, quite the flashy dresser and acessories
