Sounds like Chargers-Rams to LA

Is this a case of St. Louis be WAAAYY more of a baseball town than a football town? What's the reason for the move?

And San Diego moving is strange to me. I know they have a crappy stadium but I thought the fan base was pretty good. Am I wrong?

Kroenke is a billionaire who wants to move the Rams to LA and doesn't GAF if St Louis wants to keep the team or not.

Spanos has been trying to get a new stadium deal done in SD for over a decade with little to no progress.

As a Rams fan, this is disappointing. Thought the stadium proposal St. Louis presented was solid. LA fans suck.

Actually, it will work out better for the dome in St. Louis since it is almost paid for and now opens up for more dates for conventions.

Its not really a convention center. Its a stadium with seats. You can get tractor pulls and a few other things maybe.

Not trying to make this political but the amount of money that companies and individuals make by playing different municipalities against each other is ridiculous. Rams were mismanaged in the 1990's so they made a play that they needed the money in STL and now they're going back to LA because they'll get another new stadium. SMH

As usual, you are 100% wrong. The Edward Jones Dome is part of, and attached directly to the convention center. There are dozens of conventions and exhibitions there each year, and the stadium gets tons of use for these.

St. Louis was going to build a new stadium for the team had they decided to stay, so the 20 year old dome was going to end up without an NFL team either way. So, the Rams back to Los Angeles and maybe the Raiders to a new stadium in St. Louis. That would be pretty interesting. I am guessing it increases the value of both teams if it happens.

I don't think Davis has the 550 million fee to move to St. Louis or any other new location.

You just said it was attached. I go to conventions. There is no use for a stadium.

As much as it pains me to see my Chargers leave San Diego for LA, at least we won't have to share a stadium with those filthy Raiders.
Not sure how that would have worked with them being in the same division, anyway. Would each team have to dress in the visitors' locker room once per season when they played the other team's "home" game?

Bonds for construction of the Edward Jones Dome are still being paid through 2021 with Missouri paying $12 million/year and St. Louis City and St. Louis County paying $6 million/year each.

Over $100 million for the next six years...for a stadium that hosts the state high school football championships. That's an interesting metric for "almost paid for". Good deal.

He won't need it. Jerry Jones is pushing for the Rams and Chargers in LA at Kroenke's Inglewood location, and this appears to be the solution that is gaining favor. Davis has a signed agreement with Spanos for the Carson location, so a deal will need to be struck with Davis to blow up that agreement. This would most likely be in the form of the NFL using part of the relocation fees paid by Kroenke and Spanos to bridge the funding gap between Davis and Oakland, or by waiving or significantly reducing the relocation fee for the Raiders should LA nor Oakland be viable.

1. It hosts more than state high school football championships, including several NCAA regional finals, the Final Four, and if the team goes to L.A., it will be able to handle more conventions.

2. If you are going to talk about the upcoming period, you also need to look at the metrics for the period from 1995 to 2015 too.

3. There have been several articles here in the Business Journal that the convention center will do better with more conventions rather than having to hold 16 Sundays, Thursdays, and Mondays open each year until the NFL sets its schedule - which has caused them to lose several conventions generating more room nights and taxes than 8 nights per year.

But, please, carry on.

So...you're saying St. Louis would have done a whole lot better building a much cheaper convention center rather than a football stadium with a convention center added on. Makes sense - especially when you subtract the $100+ million due over the next six years from the revenue generated.

This is what happens when the government allows sports leagues to determine the number of franchises and which ones are in a league. You don't see this crap in Europe where if somebody wants a team, he starts one

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes from St Louis people here. Obviously LA is a much better market and opportunity.

They had a long time to build a decent stadium and St. Louis didn't do anything. Too little too late.

Jacksonville to St. Louis. I really don't care very much about St. Louis sports but the Rams suck as an organization.

LA had two teams and couldn't support them. Of course, the Rams being one of them. The fact they want to move back says a lot more about them than anything else. As for St. Louis, their Stadium is barely 20 years old.

LOL What? Its not the government. Its the NFL and its owners.

In Europe every town has a soccer team and you have promotion/relegation. I would love our leagues to adopt that....fat chance though.

As long as they're at it, just move the Jaguars to London, the Bills to Toronto and the Raiders to Mexico City. Goodell would certainly have to call his doctor because he'd have an erection for days if that could happen.

This is a bit off-topic, but does anyone else see the NFL and football in general starting to steadily lose popularity in the near future? I'm a football fan, but I just think the decline is going to start very soon. I can't completely put my finger on why.

yes and yes. it's because the economy is crap, people can't think about fun, all they think about is work, can't take family to games, it's the thug life, nobody cares, the players are all spoiled drama queens, the thing looks rigged and fixed, there's too much betting and corruption. head injuries. suicides. game changes, rule changes. yes.

The Raiders dont need the owners approval or to pay the $550 million. They have already won that court case! The NFL is going to pay them off though as it sounds. They will be giving a huge amount to the Raiders to build the new stadium in Oakland or they could take the money and go to San Antonio

they have kind of backed off the san Antonio thing, here, lately

I see this. I don't follow tha NBA anymore and the NFL is next on my list. The players are babies, the telecasts are overblown blabfests. I have better things to do with my free time.

I may be the only one but I am glad that the Rams are going Home to LA! Now they just need to decide if they go back to the blue and yellow uniforms or the blue and white uniforms. Personally I prefer the blue and white.

It appears some owners are not too keen on letting the Raiders go back.

If there was ever a tale about how cities get screwed in these things, its St. Louis. What you gonna use that dome for now? I hope Kronke rots.

Why do people think that LA will support pro football? For a metro area its size, it is absolutely horrible at supporting sports teams. Now to have 2 teams in the same are of town, they are going to be some of the worst attended games in the NFL.
