We start neutral, and CS with the TD for 2 right away!
CS riding.
Spann up to his feet and out.
Stoppage to check on RT (currently CS :53).
CS in deep again on the edge.

Henson vs. Hart (Mizz)

2nd.

Henson takes bottom.
Hart riding parallel, sitting on an ankle.
Hart locks up cradle for a sec.
He's got WH flat.
Harts gets 2NF with a cheap tilt.
End of 2, 3-0.

Henson not looking very comfortable underneath. Not uncommon for freshmen.

Henson vs. Hart (Mizz)

3rd.

We start neutral.
WH switches from single to a body lock-ish thing, trips for 2.
Hart gets out.
Scrambling, Hart locks up a cradle, coverts, and gets the fall.
Hart wins by fall.

Hart was ready for that shot. Was immediately looking for that cradle.

ayala looked outstanding. schriever very solid over a crafty vet who's been around a long time. great example of a match where refs forget about regular stall calls. henson was game, but his mat work isn't there yet. that was a very bad style match up.

It's probably not how it works but it would be kinda sweet to declare himself attached before or during the finals. Or maybe have an outer red singlet and tear it away to an Iowa one
You don't burn a shirt unless you believe the wrestler will get significant points at Nationals and put the team on top. That hasn't been determined yet.

This has been an issue for him all through highschool. If they were trying to win that match he should have picked neutral. Looks like they were going for the learning angle. His bottom game is the only thing that holds him back, IMO to the point that against guys like this it affects how aggressive he is from neutral not wanting to end up on bottom.

Surtin vs. Ayala

3rd.

DA chooses neutral.
QUICK shot after the whistle.
Scramble, we end up with 2 more, RT climbing again.
BIG mat return from DA.
DA high motor, feet always moving.
RT secured up this point.
Surtin keeps coming up, DA puts him back down.
DA finishes on the mat.
Good guys win, 9-3.

Surtin has beaten some dudes.
With Spencer news today, let's pull the shirt on this guy!
Surtin beat Camacho from NC State 7-4 and pinned Sam Latona. Also beat Jaret Lane from Lehigh.

Reyna vs. Sax (NDSU)

1st.

Sax in deep, has leg up, Reyna lifts Sax's ankle, crazy scramble, PD, back to center.
Saw is LOOONG.
Not much action.
DA faking, gets to single, Sax crotch lift, north south situation, now Sax is draped, 2 awarded to Reyna (exposure?). Not sure what happened there.
Reyna rides out the period.
2-0, Reyna.

Reyna vs. Sax (NDSU)

SV.

Sax in on a shot, we are draped, now have our hips back, almost break the lock for 2, but SM.
Reyna arm drag goes nowhere.
Reyna in on a low single, Sax with a crotch lock, SM.
End of SV1, 2-2.

The team out East doesn't have an issue with putting true frosh on the mat. Ayala is a 5-8 guy but he's probably not going to beat the top guys at 125. That's 5-14 points at NCAA vs zero that we'd likely get from Ybarra. Is that enough to win the title? Who knows because you never know what's going to happen in that tournament.

Does Ayala assure that we win the tournament? That we cannot foresee but I don't think we can win it without him in the lineup.

Reyna vs. Sax (NDSU)

TB1.

We start down, almost get turned, Reyna now in on a leg, time expires, no points.

TB2.

Reyna chooses neutral, score now 3-2, Reyna in on a shot, but time expires.
Sax wins, 3-2.

I'd really like to know reynas logic there in the ride outs. Cut him to start neutral to try for a td in 30 seconds when he couldn't do it the previous 4 minutes? Umm ok

PSU uses the same criteria as Iowa has. Can that wrestler make a significant difference and help win a title? Your best placement (5th) is about 8 points. We don't even know if DA is even a 5-8 guy. If Kem is out or greatly reduced, team race is a non factor. I'm sure the coaches are weighing the situation carefully. Patience.

PK vs. Hall (WVU)

1st.

PK still clubbin' from last night!
Controlling center.
PK with a sweep, Hall steps out.
PK with a quick lefty HC and clean finish for 2! OOB.
Hall out quickly.
PK butt is to center.
PK in deep again, Hall stops the shot, SM on the edge.
Hall now in deep, PK with a shin whizzer, Hall converts for 2, PK out quick, period ends, 3-3.
Some really good scrambling here.

Won't a year be automatically burned IF Spencer comes back next year? He certainly won't be wrestling 125.

Doesn't matter now. If Spencer is out this year and planning to return next year Ayala needs to be in the black singlet. Then Ayala takes his RS next year.

I doubt this was really anyone's perfect plan but it makes a hellluva lot more sense for Ayala to wrestle now and give us what he can vs sit for 2 years.

Nope, that's your game. You want to save a kid to preserve the fifth year. In the Iowa room, bodies are broke by the fifth year. But I dont need a crystal ball to see Ayala is healthy and our best option right now.
Go enlighten the coaches then. Tell them you have it all figured out.
If Spencer is wrestling next year, you pull the shirt now and use it next year. Otherwise, he only has 3 NCAA’s instead of 4 as said above. It’s not about points. He scores 0 next year cause he will be behind Spencer.
"If Spencer is wrestling next year". There you go. We don't know how it will all shake out. Have to be careful we don't throw him into the lion's den unless he is ready. Maybe he is ready. Patience.

PK vs. Hall (WVU)

3rd.

Hall is out in :10.
Hall more active now.
Another left HC from PK, in deep, but ends in SM.
Hall slow back to center.
Another low single on the left side from PK. PD, restart.
WOW!! Hall had us dead to rights for a TD, and PK scrambles out!
Going to SV.

4-4.

PK vs. Hall (WVU)

SV.

Again PK in on the left side, Hall stops it with a crotch lock.
Hall in on single, whizzard from PK, Hall converts for the win.

Ouch. PK super active. Could not convert on multiple shots in 2nd and third.
