Well, on the one hand, (and as an ocean lover) I get this move. Coastal areas are sensitive, and oil spills can cause long-term damage to ecosystems and local economies that rely on fishing and tourism. On the other hand, I just don’t see how we ever achieve true oil independence with policies like this. Cutting off domestic drilling only increases reliance on foreign oil and keeps energy prices high. I get the environmental concerns, but it feels like we’re sacrificing energy security and economic stability without a clear plan to balance both priorities.
