Those 2 turnovers cost us the game. Brian called a decent game a couple head scratchers for calls but overall decent. The special teams unit is what let this team down tonight specifically when we have them the ball on the 10 and they punched it in for a that TD. Good game.....

It’s always the dang ST’s in this series and in most tight games. Sickening to lose this one. We could have taken it. Oh well, save me a trip to Indy.

multiple shitty spots also cost us the game!

if our guys mistakes cost us the game, so be it, but no excuse for these horrible spots with todays technology!

yes special teams blew and so did stanley at times, but those spots are unacceptable.

Yup, the whole momentum and flavor of the game turned on this play.

Yea that was rough. However, we had our chances. Badgers took advantage. Hats off to them! Maybe next year is our year (fingers crossed)

Levar Woods has been a disaster as an assistant at Iowa.

That Beyer kid should be booted off the team. One of the dumbest special teams plays I’ve seen in awhile. You’re seriously trying to block someone 1 yard from a live ball?!?! You shouldn’t touch a football field if you don’t have any situational awareness.

Inside the 10 yard line no less. Did we have some massive return set up? SMH

Those mistakes are 100% on the kids. Get the fvck out of here with that nonsense.

How do you know that? I tweeted at Morehouse about that play and he responded "Gotta think he's coached to do that." I'd be willing to bet he's a little more tuned into this program than you are.

I don't like to rip kids but I hope Beyer never sees the field again. All the off-season training, etc for the team and in biggest game of the year a special teams sub does what a 6 year old in PopWarner wouldn't do. Just sad.

I'm resisting ripping on Beyer, so I'm going to blame his boss for bad personnel decisions.

Because I played college football and I coach football now. Those are mistakes made by kids losing themselves in the game. No coach teaches players to mistakenly touch a punted ball or fair catch at the 3 yard line. Come on.

He didn`t know that the ball was right behind him. That is the the fault of the back guy for not communicating.

I agree. Don't play kids that are susceptible to losing themselves in the game.

Okay, but you don't know how kids will play until you put them out there. Practice is a million times different than games, and games can't be simulated. See it every year/game.

Iowa's 3 turnovers to Wisconsin's 0 is the story of the game, for sure.

Hornibrook's 3 TD passes? Are you kidding me? And of course, he makes no mistakes.

Damn it.

It was 2 turnovers. Game was already over when Iowa got the ball with around 50 seconds and Stanley threw two five yard passes and a dirtball. That is not a winning drive nor is giving up a 7 minute drive for TD when you are up 3pts and there is 8 minutes left in game.

The real question is.. Why in the hell is our 3rd string TE on Punt Return??

Kirk said on the post game it was a "dumb" move.

Take a look at this article (link at end). KF knows the Beyer mistake cost Iowa the game.

here is KF's take:

But the big blunder was Shaun Beyer, also on a punt return, inadvertently backing into a rolling punt with Iowa ahead 10-7 in the third quarter. Wisconsin recovered at Iowa’s 10-yard line and scored seven gift-wrapped points three plays later.

What are Iowa's guys supposed to do in that situation?

“Get the hell away,"
head coach Kirk Ferentz said bluntly. "There’s communication involved there. It seemed like everyone was getting the message. For whatever reason, it didn’t get quite get communicated. When you’re in that area, it’s dangerous.”
