Spencer Interview

I'm disappointed we didn't land Spencer but Iowa got a real prize both as a wrestler and an individual by everything I've seen of him. I want to think those at the States were rooting for the effort put forth by the underdog Austin DeSanto but I think it may have bee 30% applauding Desanto's grit to 70% being jerks!

Wishing him the best as a Hawkeye....most of the time:) And if he should win then I will applaud him because of how he wrestles and how he handles himself.

Congrats....you landed a gem.

Gotta love the f** comments.....

Good start, but he only said fun once. Learn from the master...

From the latest WIN interview of Cael:

<<"When the kids say they are having fun, the way I look at it is that we are having fun because we love the sport and love the opportunity to compete...."

"Does fun mean we are chewing bubble gum or jumping rope? Not necessarily. Our kids do have fun because they are enjoying what they are doing...."

Sanderson also said fun is as simple as his team's work habits and ethics.>>

I said it after NCAAs, the "fun" thing going on when PSU wrestlers are interviewed almost seems like it has to be an inside joke now where they are intentionally perpetuating it and having some sort of competition to see who can reference "fun" the most in an interview. After the NCAA finals, every single one of their wrestlers including Cael mentioned "fun" in their interview. If not an inside joke then it's pretty sad/cringe worthy.

And again, quite ironic and hilarious that after Cox beat Taylor, Cox mentioned "fun" numerous times in his interview moments after Taylor displayed very clearly he wasn't having any fun.

Did you read the whole article? You missed one. A good start anyway: “It’s going to be a lot of fun being here, battling with the best guys in the country,”
“Not one bit. I’m going to get this knee strong and come back,” he says, patting his leg. “It’s going to be fun.”

As a fan the next few years are gonna be a lot of f** no doubt!

In his defense it was a 30 min interview vs the 10 second interviews where the PSU guys manage to sneak in 4 "funs".

And no one's saying that having fun is bad.

The issue with what PSU fanatics were doing, is that they were attributing PSU's success due to the fact that they were just letting lose and having fun.

Fun is the outcome of winning. Fun isn't the cause of winning.

The first lesson of summer classes for incoming PSU wrestlers...

You could be right about the inside joke.

Another possible explanation would be it's a talking point for recruiting... to contrast PSU's "fun" program with the "dreary" Iowa program. Propaganda, in other words. It dovetails with the Iowa bashing ... robots, never smiling, not having fun, no technique, just pushing etc etc.
