Spencer Lee

The anticipation of him getting back on the mat is unprecedented to me.
I watched a video of him doing pull ups with a towel grip @citadelbjj , he did like 30 reps and looked like he was ripped.
I am extremely excited for this post season, but with Spencer‘s come back and the new dogs that will be hitting the mat and ready next season is going to be epic

I remember when I felt like a God doing 10 pull-ups.

It'd be quite the accomplishment to get 1 rn... feels bad man.

Agree, I love this group of Hawks, guys like Kem, Bull, ADS, and Young have put it all out there for several years now, appreciate the hell out of them. That said, there is a point where guys have been around so long that there is no new car smell/new toy feel left, and many people go right to the negative of everything they do win or lose, feel there is a lot of that with those 4 and Warner this year. I think that cycle turns next year, lot of new starters and Spencer returns....do we expect next year's team to win, of course, but I think there will be more excitement about what the newbies will bring to the mat, how they grow, etc., with Spencer, there will be questions, not just an expectation that he curb stomps everyone from the word go. It makes a season where we may finish 2nd or 3rd much more fun-more palatable than this one with a handful of Super Seniors.

I think with Spencer leading the charge next March, and our young kids hitting the mat, next March could be an epic moment for Hawkeye wrestling.

I think Spencer will be an unstoppable locomotive next year. We may get to witness the most dominant season for a wrestler in a long time on his way to the first ever 4 timer for the Hawks.

I hope that’s true. I think we’ll see limited matches and 25 teams points come March. A fully healthy Spencer will roll through anyone, domestically and internationally.

I’d advise recording all of his matches next year, might not see anything like it again.

I’m gonna disagree, I think he comes in like a FR8 train and unleashes on everyone from beginning to end and just becomes more and more dominant as the season goes on.
I think we see a new outlook and completely locked in version with no hinderances. I’m ready for some payback and we are gonna get some.
I also trained to the Rocky sound track yesterday and may be talking out my arse because I’m so pumped about his return.

We’ve seen limited matches from Spencer due to health related reasons. The last thing I want to see is more limited mat time due to injury concerns.

Limited matches shouldn’t be the new normal, imo.

Senior level freestyle wrestlers don't wrestle 30+ matches a year. I think it gets to be to much of a grind as they get older and as the competition gets tougher. Spencer is starting to enter that age range. I would be surprised if he gets more than 20 matches next season.

You’re prolly right, although this is college folk style and not senior level freestyle.

I would like to see SL in some big duals but be ready to finish out at B1G and NCAAs and then press on with his international career. College IS a grind. These young guys come into college with more wear and tear on their bodies than they used to after wrestling year around plus the amount of high school matches they do these days. Was watching a Jeff Theiler match from his junior year and he broke the wins record at 47 or 48. Kids routinely get past that amount now. I believe Sorensen averaged 54 matches a year. Sure, some of those are dual forfeits but its still a large amount. Spencer averaged 36 but missed most of his junior year...he only had 12. Add in freestyle and it's a lot.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but Spencer has blown 3 ACLs in his short life. He's going out there with a double repair with less than a year to recover before the final seasons starts. Can they even fix the imbalance that causes it?

I just want him to enjoy his senior year injury free, and I will be utterly jubilant if he win's his fourth title on a penalty point in the 2 OT.

It wouldn't be realistic to expect him at any point in the first half of the season, but Spencer Lee is about as unreal as it gets, so who knows?
