Spring begins on Monday

Hit the hot tub, coffee in hand at 8 am this am, 2 hours of pickleball, then 2 NCAA games and now a little golf while the heat build to 165 or so...
Just curious, what do you have for a sauna? Indoor or outdoor? I have beeen contemplating one once my son goes off to college and I can reclaim some of the basement…

Chalk me up as curious as well @jamesvanderwulf - I’m bored and feel like a remodel is in order in the basement. Need a project and was thinking about the possibility of a sauna.

I built a 12 x 30 shed during covid and incorporated a sauna into the building. I bought my wood stove in Minnesota and used this guy's advice on building a sauna. I bought all my wood from https://www.cedardirect.com/ in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

Wow that is much larger in scope than what I imagined. I was thinking a small electric one in the basement. What you have is awesome though, and if I had an acreage, I would probably do that…

The sauna is only 6 x 7 inside the building. If you go to the https://www.saunatimes.com/ website Glenn has all the info about saunas that you could ever want to know. Of course they frown on electric but not everyone can accommodate wood. But the Kuuma stove is everything it's cracked up to be. When you dump a cup of water on those rocks the heat goes right to your soul...

Play tennis man or I'll teach you. Pickleballs are what you get when your testicles exceed 60 years of age.

I only sauna in the nude....in public....

@Hawki97 if you take him up on his offer do not accept any food or beverage that he offers you.

I have cases of RAGBRAI free gratis beer from Big Grove. Not that Busch Light swill that you wanted me to stand in line at Carver for you, only to pay 10.00 for last week...

1. I only drink Michelob Ultra.
2. Sorry if I was being too subtle. I was warning him that you'd drug him and do weird gay rapey stuff in the sauna.

I hung up my wooden Don Budge racket years ago. Soon all the tennis courts will be replaced with PB like at Mercer Park in IC. The tennis courts were full of tumbleweeds from lack of use...
Many cities are discussing how to meet the needs of pickle ball enthusiasts. Hopefully us taxpayers of IC come up with some nice options for you.

Yes that bit is sad. Amazing how things change.

I was out today on I-80 driving about and I had to stop for gas. The cold wind went right through me. Had my eyes watering...
Mmmmm yeah

Coralville is picking up Iowa City's slack as usual. 19 courts at Green State Fieldhouse, Rec center, North Liberty tore out 2 tennis courts and built 6 new PB courts last year. There are plans to build 2 new courts where Phil's Building materials used to be in Coralville...

No great American players = lack of interest, I guess. McEnroe and Conners got the public interested back in the day. Alex Agassi was USA's last name player and he retired in 2006...

Tennis has been ruined by rackets.

Make them play with the old wood rackets again.

Andre Agassi my good man. We had Andy Roddick after that and he won the US Open and at one time had the fastest serve in men's tennis. Not bad for a 5 11 kid from Omaha.

Umm no. Just no. It's less the rackets, more the poly string. I string rackets as a side hustle. Seen fads come and go but poly string has killed serve and volley and made every one into a baseline banger.

I can’t wait for EMC’s new park with pickle ball courts where the old younkers building was. Will really open up more options for the hobos to defile and piss/poop all over, while enjoying the modern art sculptures.

Spring (weather) is coming. Just gonna be a little late this year because of that damn infernal sudden stratospheric warming thingie that pushed arctic cold down on us this month.

We'll get a small taste this week, but early April give or take a week is looking more likely for something more permanent.

Will the weather be a factor in keeping the MAGAt militias at home on Tuesday? Or will they brandish their automatics and assault rifles as my President does his perp walk on national TV?
America waits...yes, the weather does affect these things!

Or @GOHOX69 I can get you on the PB court. I’ll bring an extra paddle if you want to join me at Green State @ 2 pm. The pickle ball is in your court…
Gohox is making growth factors for Alzheimer's right now, as we speak. You can wave at me as you drive by the hygienic lab. I'm across the street. We do need to meet soon my friend. Maybe we can take the crane for a joyride 😉 I should have time to pickle in the near future however! Kick some @$$.
